Although the CVO Deluxe looks pretty cool, I think they missed the mark on it. 

Should have gone with hard bags for a real custom look and with more useful room.  JMHO.

The negative - Mail Slot in front of batwing...do you really need a vent in the fairing when going 70 mph? The mail slot ruins the look of the redesigned batwing....couldn't HD have at least made it color matched so it isn't so noticeable?  Looks like an after-market item.

Air cleaner is ugly...reminds me of the old AMF air cleaners.

Positive - Standard wheels look better on the non CVO touring bikes.  Better sound system, etc.  Linked braking.  Seems saddle bags and tour pack will be more user friendly with upgraded latches.

Undecided - Cooling system.  Lets see what, if any, problems emerge.  Would be hesitant to be a 2014 guinea pig...maybe in 2016.

From Louisville HD:  It's a dual cooling system. Still air-cooled but water cooled head. Like BMW started doing on the GS last year. No more exhaust port hot spotting. Less hot crotch on long rides. If riders want the old Harley riding experience, it's simple. Keep buying old Harleys.

It looks like they are going for the "Madstad" style negative pressure vent to limit turbulence maybe from the video?

It's not "pretty"...but will it be that noticeable over the long haul?  Meh?  Does it work would be my question.

I see a lot of ergonomic improvements: A LONG overdue radio upgrade; left handed cruise control button; looks like no more rocker switches on the lower inner; more room for the passenger; one handed saddlebag lid releases; one handed TP release (and they do say "new" hinges, so perhaps they finally got that done); looks like the lowers are better designed for improved air flow; one might not like the vented fairing, but I'll bet $100 that it's much better functionally (I'm certain they will sell a chrome surround for it, for only $69.95).  They still missed the boat on an adjustable windshield though.  The lower rear crash bars are also a nice touch for the passenger.

The new steering head might prove to be a good move; larger/stiffer front forks (though I'm not sure what, if anything they did to the actual springs/fluid/dampening); the water cooling around the exhaust valve, IF THEY GOT IT RIGHT, is bound to help with heat management; Improved lighting all around; improved air box?; linked ABS brakes (it's about friggin' time).

Potential problems for some buyers:  pretty damn high seat height, laden or not, though it sounds like they have done a "nose job" on the seat for the benefit of shorter riders.

Close ups of the paint job look interesting, and the subtle changes to the front fender look better, IMO.

All in all, my opinion is that they did some long overdue refinements.  I actually like the new saddlebag lids, and one handed opening will be a HUGE improvement.  But I bet you get the same crappy rear shocks, and one can only hope they made some kind of improvement on the front suspension components.

I guess I was posting while that pic was being posted.  It looks like one of the things that was mentioned a last year has been dealt with.  It looks like the radiator vents right back out the front, so we won't have the heat passing through to our legs.  That is going to be a real mess to clean.  

Not even HD is stupid enough to vent the radiator air back to the front intake for the radiators.  Look at a side view of the lowers: note the vent on the outside of where they glove box used to be.  Looks to me like the hot air will be pushed out to the sides of the lowers.  It also mentions a "one touch" adjustable vent for rider comfort on the lowers, so obviously there are two venting systems on the lowers...one for the radiator and one to get more/less air to the rider/engine fins.

There's a radiator in each lower.

There are increases in the size of the bags and the TP, according to what I'm reading, so that may be due to not having any glove boxes any longer.

They actually did a pretty good job with the radiators and venting from a form point of view...how they, and the rest of the water system function remains to be seen.

On the Limited/Ultra:  I may have missed it in previous posts, but it appears as if all navigation options are gone - built in and/or Zumo.  Good to see the comfort improvements for passengers, standard LEDs, ventilation improvements.  Hate the new colors - red is not tooo bad.  Just curious... since they don't call this an Ultra, will it be considered a new model, or will it be designated a FLHTCUSE9?
