Horn gone all croaky
« on: September 19, 2006, 10:00:13 AM »

I think this has been mentioned before but this morning my horn worked just fine (too darned fine - I accidently blasted the long suffering neighbours - again) but a couple of hours later after a hot ride in city traffic all I could get was a croak

I don't normally make much use of the horn - I prefer to spend the effort getting out of the way of the problem but sometimes it's necessary.

I'm going to check it later when it's had a rest and see what gives

Cheers

Dave

The stock horns suck and their reliability just blows.  Louder is better where horns are concerned.  If you're a trumpet lover the air horn options are obvious.  If you're not an afficionado of the visible trumpet here is an option a few here have used now that gives you a nice loud little air horn while keeping it all hidden.

Yep, just when you want it all you get is something sounding like passing gas.  If I keep jabbing at mine sometimes I can get it back.  I don't change it cause the options are mostly ugly and I just give way to stay safe.......  being able to count on a nice loud blast would be nice, I know a closed up car could never hear the stock horn...

Hey TallyClassic!

Check out the thread above mentioned by Twolane.  I just did this over the weekend (with a little help from UK Dave) and it really is a fantastic deal.  Same stock look, LOUD horn.

Get some attention, FAST.

Mine has done that a few times but I remove it and pour the water out and it works fine again.

Mine started "croaking" and the dealer loosened the mounting screw a bit and it works fine again.

;D Ditto for me. Mine always does it after a good bathing or rain storm.
