« on: March 10, 2013, 05:34:10 PM »

Just finishing up changing out my bars and was testing everything got to the start test and engine cranks but doesn't fire any ideas? The only thing I can think of is the security sys. I can hear the fuel pump run, all lights come on just wont start, HELP!!!

If it were security system the bike would not crank.

Symptoms of a bad crank sensor - but if you just finished changing your bars, it would seem more likely related to one of those wires...

If it was a crank sensor or something related, it would most likely store a code wouldn't it?

What would happen if you had an issue with the throttle control after changing the bars? It might be possible that there is a problem there.

I pulled a plug and grounded it against the head, cranked it and didn't see any spark, is there anything in the bars that would prevent it firing?

Check your key fob battery. Could be a problem if you have never changed it.
 Just a thought.

You know how you can't say "always", but it this case it is "always" the last thing you did.  Check all of the wiring again.  Plus you may have caused a short to the bars when pulling the wires.  Don't go anywhere else, even though it is a Harley, they just don't go bad.

Did you remove the tank to run brake lines? If so did you reconnect the fuel line?

Gonna agree with dlg, it worked when you started and wouldn't when you finished. Seems that a step in your process caused he problem. Check all related connectors. I have seen others pull harnesses to make wires work only to pull the connector pins apart. Might not be in the bars. Good luck!

No spark!  There is a message there! Double check your work.  Undo each item one at a time and keep checking for spark.  Look for pinched wires or bad connections.  No spark = no run.  Don't forget, the kill switch is on the bars, but I don't think it will crank if the kill switch is off.

Any possibility that you popped the ignition fuse? When you were changing the bars, did you pull the maxi fuse?
Just fishing for ideas.
