Welcome from Germany. Use a Shark Evoline Series 3 helmet and you have best of both worlds. I am absolutely satisfied. But in general wear what ever you like.

Ride safe and have fun.

    • CVO1: 2001 FXDWG2 (Traded in 2003)...STUPID ME!!
    • CVO2: 2001 FXDWG2 (purchased "almost new" in 2013) Corrected the above mistake

Welcome from another rookie here. I just joined a week ago after finding my CVO Dreambike ...AGAIN. This is the BEST FORUM on the WWWweb.
I agree with most others...Wear what you want....

But....

WEAR A FULL FACE! As a former Law Enforcement Officer, who spent a good part of my career as a Traffic Homicide Investigator in a large Metro. CITY, I've seen my share of NOT SO EASY TO LOOK AT motorcycle crash scenes. The F/F helmets that are designed for racing and available to the riding public are VENTED to the MAX and are quite comfortable. The SNELL FOUNDATION looks out for us. They are NOT cheap, but neither is BRAIN SURGERY...I used to have a big poster hanging on the wall in my office when I was a Traf. Homicide Detective...It was created by "BELL HELMETS". It showed a very nasty crash scene (most of it was "hazed out") involving a MINI-VAN & 3 motorcyclists who had ALL been wearing "Shorty" novelty helmets...It read, "IF YOU HAVE A TEN DOLLAR HEAD - Wear a $10 helmet".

just my 2 cents...

Welcome back to Harley and to CVO forum from Tennessee! Lot of great CVO's to pick from. No riding suit, leather jacket or shirt. Full face helmet only when it is really cold. But thats just me.

WELCOME    :welcome_005:   enjoy the site & the cvo family. great people       :2vrolijk_21:

you'll enjoy the cvo ride. I've ridin all kinds. own 4 h-d, bout the cvo is the caddy.
I've started out with ff, then went to p-nut 1/2, then to dot 1/2, still use ff when rainy or extreme cold. looking at integral ff at h-d dealership. where it opens up to 3/4 with tinted flip down sheild & reg clear all built in. around 230.00. just wear what ya feel comfortable in.
Just be safe & enjoy.  Ask for GOD's protection around you!

That's a good one ,...I was in such a hurry to get out and ride when the sun come out...I knew I'd forgoten something :P

That would be an interesting sunburn! :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
Seriously, the best protection is the one that you would wear. As for the extended warranty, I have it on mine but I also keep my bikes for a long time.

Going from a wing to HD......is that like being born again? Maybe something to do with the new pope? :D :D :welcome_005:

Is there a biker dress code? I know once a year I think I should go for the COOL factor and wear shorts. At 5'7 I have short legs. So once a year I get a nice burn on my left leg after it touches the primary :soapbox:!!! I'll see if I have learned anything this year! :nixweiss: :coolblue:

Doug

if you plan on leaving the bike 'mostly stock', given the amount of miles that you ride a year (25k), the extended warranty is probably a good deal for you.  but, you do not have to purchase the warranty right away, you can purchase it any time within the 2 year factory warranty.  and, you don't have to buy it from the same dealer that you bought your bike.  there are several dealers who 'discount' the esp, so if you're selling dealer doesn't want to deal on the esp, then pass on it, and buy it elsewhere.

Welcome back, I've owned just about every bike made, some several times but I usually keep a Harley or two around even when I own other brands.  Wear what you're comfortable with, no one that matters will ever criticise a fellow rider for wearing full outerwear and a full face helmet.
