Lowers
« on: March 16, 2013, 09:36:15 AM »

I am kicking around the thought of putting lowers on my new ride.  The only concern is the heavy breather on the CVO.  Will it work?  Is there a lot of air restriction?  Think it would look bad on the Anniversary edition Road Glide?  Any thoughts.....

I dint think so. There are some guys on here that have added lowers and they have changer to a different A/C/. I think one of them mentioned a shorter filter but I haven't seen it.

If i'm not mistaken, the breather will still fit as long as the lowers DONT have speakers.

I put em on my TRX.  But I don't have that breather hanging out, so I cant say if it will clear or not.

But based on my experience riding with the lowers this winter, I would change the breather if that's what it took to get the lowers on.

I installed fairing lowers on my FLTRXSE13 anniversary Road Glide and they perform and look awesome ,they fill out the front of the bike and are very functional. You will have to special order them from HD with an 8 week wait. The only issue is with the heavy breather , I had to change to the short breather air cleaner and the AC cover will not work with that set up. I installed quick disconnect hardware on the lowers , so in the event I want to go back to the origonal look it can be converted in minits. I highly recommend installing them, the bike looks more filled out and slammed and more protection against the weather. ;D

I would definitely add lowers. The heavy breather works fine if its the 28716.10A  That's the shorter version.  If the lowers have speakers, then your out of luck. Restriction is not a problem. Would it look good?  I think it would, but that's just me.

Will fit if you do not have speakers and do not have glovebox.

With the short filter you can have glove box.

Will have to change air cleaner style for speakers.

I run the agitator to mach the rims on the bike and have speakers

That is what I said, the short one fits with the glove box, thats what I run in the winter on my Skunk.

The stock longer cone will not fit with glove box.

That's the setup I've been pondering.  Still trying to decide if the $1100 is worth it hehe.

The lowers wil work with the short heavy breather filter, guy I ride with has this combination and has had for a couple years. I have them on my SERG as well but no heavy breather. They are butt ugly on any HD in my opinion. I also have the quik fastener kit but I am not sure it makes it any quicker to get them off, just don't need tools. I take mine off about this time of year, put them back on in Oct/Nov as we don't have much winter here (Florida). They were nice last week @ Bikeweek as it was pretty cool.
