First of all, I am the GM of a BMW dealership, I understand a little bit about the business.  I walked into my local HD Dealer and immediately a bike caught my eye.  It had a dealer plate on it, and about 3,200 miles on the odometer.  It was a 2013 Road Glide, (103 motor) decked out as the GM's bike I guess.  No engine work other than cams, and pipes, custom HD paint set, and then cosmetically everything was tricked out with HD accessories.  Really an eye catcher no doubt.  I was talking to the sales guy, I told him yeah, I bought 3 bikes from you guys, he asked me the typical question, what do I ride now.  And then of course he could work me a real good deal on this bike.  I told him it looks great, but I have a CVO, and a one year wonder bike that's not on the docket to be duplicated, I think I'm going to keep it.  I asked him how much do you want for this, I know a few people looking for a cool individual kinda bike.........$52,900.00!!!!!!!  I almost choked!  For a cosmetically customized bike with miles on it, all HD parts that you put on at cost, really, more than twice the cost of the bike BRAND NEW with no one else in the seat....really!

What are dealers thinking?

They are thinking... Puff, Puff, Pass.

In other words... they are thinking somebody will come in there and "have to have it" or somebody w/more $$$ then brains will want it.... either way they are going to screw somebody royally if they get that price.

It is a looker, but I would think $35,000 would still put probably $5,000 in their pocket!  Heck, thats more than we end up making on a $80,000 BMW!

As the owner of a new car dealership, I once got in trouble with the state over a similar issue. A customer asked how much we wanted for my wife's 93 Allante. Salesman indicated it wasn't for sale which it wasn't. Customer turned us in to state DOT. As long as it had dealer plates, it had better be for sale. State suggested that we price any vehicle that we didn't want to sell so high that people would walk away. Our policy from then on.

Yeah I will next time I go there.  I bought my last 3 bikes from them, I tried to buy a Skunk from them and they priced me $3k over MSRP.  This was the 1st time I stepped into that store since them, my guess is that it will be setting there for a long time at that price.  This is Brighton HD, even though I live about 5 miles away, I go 30 miles to Motor City HD since that experience.  This proves to me that nothing has changed, the same moron is running the dealership.

Hey Rio.., We live pretty close to each other.  I run up to Brighten HD on occasion but I have never bought from them.   I can't ever get anyone to wait on me.    I guess I always look like a "looker" and not a "buyer."  If you are ever headed south going through Toledo, Ohio look me up.

could be that       They could just put it so high,So when someone wants to wheel and deal they can

make it look like the dealer really worked with you and gave it to you for 42,000  so everyone feels good about the

 DEAL lol

the bike that i looked at in your link had the standard fltrx rear end, not the cvo.  no recessed taillights, and it has the tribar fender tip light.....
