Canadian Navigation DVD's?
« on: September 22, 2006, 12:37:05 AM »

Has anyone got there HK navigation system to work in Canada?
I am willing to bet I need a Canadian map DVD. Is such an animal out there?
My bike is the first one my dealer has seen so they are not sure.

After having a GREAT Garmin unit, I think this HK system is going to be a big let down  :(

Thanks,

Brad

Igofar,

It is not the HK fault or even Garmins. I think, In Canada unlike the the Mapping information is not public domain. The Feds wanted to charge the GPS Manufacturers a Sum of Money for the information, they were not prepared to pay for it. That is why the maps for Canada are not a precise as the US one.

So if I follow you correctly, there is no Canadian DVD and we just have to go to the USA to have our navigation system function? My unit says there are no roads near here, none.

Hmmm not exactly what I was hoping for.....

Thanks,

;D Sure Can't "go far" without roads, now can you?  Sorry, just couldn't help myself.  Sorry that the map feature is not currently a wroking feature in my home country.   :'(  It's just not fair.   >:(

I just came back from Canada...I was in Ontario & Quebec Province and I used my Garmin with DVD v.8 for North America & Canada....and let me tell you all the roads, highways, everything was in there.........I rode from Windsor to Toronto and then Montreal, and then Ottawa, and then Berrie and then I crossed the border thru Niagara Falls back to US....and I was satisfied!!

You bet Jorge, the Garmin works awesome....
I have a 2730 but I was hoping the Harley HK set up would work good enough that I would not have to mount "stuff" on this bike. Guess not, I suppose I will wait for the new Garmin Zumo to come out this fall.

The Nav setup procedure does include the option to selct Canada as the region for use. You must put a check mark next to the Canada region option. Pages 15 and 16 of the Advanced Audio GPS Nav System owners manual has the directions for selecting Canada.

Anyone have a part number for this Navigation Manual? I did not get one and my dealer can not find any information on it.

Thanks,
