Antenna Question
« on: September 22, 2006, 03:33:26 PM »

I just picked up my new Screaming Eagle Ultra. What a ride!

Do I have to keep the whipping antennas or can I cut them down without causing a problem like reduced radio or CB reception?

I am brand new to the Ultra bikes, always rode Roadkings.  ;)

Lots of members have switched to the short rubber antennas.  They're available for lots of places.  I don't remember anybody complaining about the radio reception.  But, I also don't remember anybody talking about the CB and what affects the shorter antenna had on it.  Of course, most of us are only concerned about chatting with somebody less than 15 bike lengths away, so a couple of cans and some string would do that!

Beags ( Screamin_Beagle) gets these cool pigtail antennae that are only about 2 feet long. They look like a stretched out spring and are probably as long as the stock ones if they were straightened out. Don't know where he gets em. I'd suggest you PM him. He's a good dude, he'll set you in the right direction

Suggestion: Before you cut them down or replace them Why not test the cb and the raido to be sure that everything works before you start trouble shooting any problems with your new install or dealer for warrenty work.

Of course you can do as you wish  [smiley=jalapeno.gif]

There are risks and costs to a program of action.  But they are far less than the long range risks and costs of comfortable inaction.
