I really want the Short Shorts from Vance & Hines....they make a set that will fit a Rocker and the CVO Softail Springer, but they have 18mm 02 sensor bungs.  Bassani makes a 18mm to 12'' bung adapter....if this would work, I'd be really happy and I could do my exhaust this weekend!  I called Vance and Hines and they said that the Short Shots wouldn't fit....then I asked would the ones for the Rocker/CVO Springer technically fit because of the same frame/swing arm/rear tire, and he said yeah...but the 02 sensors are 18mm.  I asked about adapters and he sai that the sensor wouldn't be in the exhaust stream enough.

I must say....the CVO Breakout has been out since October....thats almost 6 months to get your chit together.  Its re-cock-ulous that there is not many options here!

I used adaptors on my big radius 2:1 without any issues.

They ended up using those adapters for my RR 2-1 and it didn't seem to be a problem. I had short shots staggered on my fatboy lo and really liked them. Very loud pipes.

I came close to going with those pipes. Unfortunately V/H pissed me off for just acting like they really didn't care. About that time Bassani starts putting out there that their rocker pipes will fit so I went with them.

Check the actual location (distance from the heads) of your stock setup versus the pipes for the older models.  The late model sensors can be subject to early failure if mounted too close to the heads where the exhaust temps are higher.  Also, if the extra shoulder on the adapter is very thick, it could cause the tip of the sensor to be partially shrouded.  Last but equally important, consider the wiring for the sensors.  If the bung location is significantly different, you may have issues with the sensor wires.  You can buy adapters for that as well, but routing the wires to protect them and keep things looking good could be a bit of a chore.

The point of my post is that while it's always possible to screw stuff together with thread adapters, in this case there are some possible pitfalls beyond just making the threads the right size.  Check everything out before wasting time and money ordering a system not designed for your bike.

One possibility you didn't mention was having the proper 12mm bungs added to the pipes in the correct location and installing plugs in the 18mm bungs.  I'd be more inclined to do that than mess with the adapters and wiring mods.  Just a thought.

Bassani said they didn't change anything from their Rocker Pipe to the pipes that fit the Breakout....the only thing is O2 size....that is what makes me think that when Vance and Hines says they are re-tooling, all it really means is taking Rocker pipes and putting 12mm bungs in instead of 18mm.

Very loud pipes.

++++++1  If there is any chance you can listen to these first(unless you already have), just to make sure they are for you.  the "lowrider" setup of this bike means your ears are pretty close to the exhaust and they are truly loud(at least they were on my wife's Sporty).

I've read on here that the 2 into 1 is a little quieter than the 2 into 2.  Is that accurate information?

In my experience, definitely....I had the 2-1 on my 103ci big bore motor in my 2008 FXSTC before getting the Breakout.  The 2-1 has a deep sound than the 2-2, and is definitely not as loud.

I actually like the 2-1 sound better, but on the Breakout, I like the look of the 2-2 MUCH better, so I went with style over sound!
