Thanks!  My paperwork says: 1800-1414 CHR SS STAG 12ST
The box is in my trailer- I'll check any numbers on it in the am.
I am still breaking the bike in(<500mi) so I haven't really pushed it or noticed any change in performance.
I do feel like there is more pull/torque at lower rpms.  Will dyno at 1000 and decide on a tuner then- the local HD dealer said I shouldn't need one.  We'll see...

Thanks KLBO, that number is probably the dealers own code. Do you know if the pipes were for the Rocker, or the Softail?

That's the same code on VH website for 12-13 Softail.

Any part with 1800 in front of it is the Drag Specialties part number.

Below is the website and particulars for my new exhaust... When you click on "detailed fitment info" it says NOT for Breakout or CVO Breakout.  I had the local dealer do everything and they said it wasn't a problem and didn't know why they have that on the website.  So I called Vance and Hines, they were pretty quick to inform me they didn't adjust the 12-13 softail model for the wide tire and cannot guarantee against causing "paint issues" with the wider swing arm.  I asked if there was performance issues and he said "no only cosmetic.". The VH tech added the dealer most likely modded the bracket if the install has good clearance. Having zero issues as of now.  Will post close ups of install.

Ok, thanks very much. It appears you're the first (that we know of) to use the softail short shot pipes. Others all seem to have used the rocker pipes as Nicky mentioned. Hadn't heard of the possible paint damage issue but from the recent BS that has apparently come from their tech guys nothing would surprise us. Your bike looks great and does show the rear wheel perfectly. Happy safe riding!

VH tech did mention using the Rocker model BUT the 2012-13 pipes have a different O2 sensor location(newer one is further upstream).  Below is the specific VH SSS string

Just Picked up a Red one Saturday from the dealer in Nashua, NH. I did not ask any questions, it was on the showroom floor and did not have a sold tag, I resolved that issue immediately. I don't think they were expecting to get one as there was not a waiting list for it. There was a lot of interest and someone else was to buy on Monday but left no deposit. It is in my stable now! Everyone at the dealer said I was very lucky to have gotten it. As I read these posts I can see why. It runs great and looks great, it out performed my expectations! What a ride. :bananarock:

Welcome Mutant!

ah, the crimson is just outstanding, isn't it?  those folks with the gold and black have no idea what they are missing  :P

I am actually surprised that at this late date people are still snapping them up off the showroom floors.  My check of the 6 HD showrooms in my general area show they have been empty of CVO BO's for months.

Funny, I stopped at a dealership I don't normally frequent last saturday to grab a quart of oil.  A salesperson, no less, is checking out the bike and all but calls me a liar when I tell him the red is a stock color from HD for the CVO BO.  he also thought I must have custom ordered the brown seat.  He went back inside, came back out a few minutes later as a I was ready to leave and found the red on the website-said they had sold a gold and black, but nobody there had ever seen a red one.....I told him....that's why I bought that color   :apple:

Enjoy...these CVO's are very few and far between(about 1300 of them, total in the US).  This is one bike that will always have my name on the pink slip......

Oh, and there's tons of great info on this site as well for brand new owners.....

Thanks Jeff,

How loud are those V/H pipes? My wife wants me to put louder pipes on (I love that lady) I had V/H on my Fat Bob and they were nerve racking. I went to a 2 into 1 SuperTrapp which was just right.

BTW I travel all over the US for work and usually stop in at the local dealer and grab a T-shirt. I have seen a few production models but not one CVO. I haven't noticed any others on the road. Obviously they are not around long enough to make the showroom. I literally stumbled on to this one. My wife was with me and I got the green light on the spot. I told my son-in-law in PA and he replied that if I ever wanted to sell he has two friends who want to get first shot. They did not know that HD made this in Crimson either.

Meanwhile on subject - Locals here have no info on 2014 models of the CVO. Just reply "we have not heard either way"

Hi there,

I have owned several V/H exhausts across several different bikes....

IMO, the best sounding of them all is the Big Radius 2:1.  it has a lot going for it:  it generates the most power of any V/H non-racing exhaust(according to their numbers), it has a very low rumbling sound, and I would consider it to be a 5 on the loudness meter, grading strictly within the V/H lineup of exhausts.  Also, for me, it is by far the most fantastic looking 2:1 exhaust from anyone-not even a close race.  I had this exhaust on my 2008 Softail Custom, and I lost track of the number of folks that asked me if it was custom.

Really, the ONLY reason I did not put it on my CVO BO is that it covers up too much of the rear wheel.  For me, these turbine wheels make this bike, and I just couldn't bear hiding any part of them.

So, I chose form over function.  The Big Radius 2:2's just fit the form of this bike to a tee, IMO.  and they angle down just in front of the rear wheel.  I would say they are a 6.5 on the V/H loudness meter(10 being the loudest).  What don't I like about them?  EVERBODY HAS THEM!  I can recognize this exhaust just from hearing it on another bike, that's how many people have it...it's a bummer because I am all about being as unique as possible.  But it's well worth it to get an exhaust that I feel was made for this bike.

Now, the sound is not low and rumbling like the 2:1.  It's a more ragged, nasty, snarling sound.  It's bad-ass no doubt.  I look at the 2:1 as being and more "refined" sound than the 2:2...

But it's not nearly as loud as the V/H Short Shots...my wife had those on her Sporty a few years ago....wow...will set off the car alarms  !!

IMO, the V/H 2:1's and 2:2's are both louder from a volume standpoint than the Supertrapps, depending on how many of the resonator disks you used on the Trapps, but someone else may have a more experienced opinion on that than me..

What Z06 just said.

and here is a BO with the 2 into 1:

I also considered the 2 into 1 but went with the 2 into 2 because they do not cover up the wheel. The sound of the bike is fantastic with the 2 into 2, IMO. The only drawback is that most BO's now have these, so now I have been working on making it more unique with other add-ons (air filter cover, oil cooler, heel rests, etc). :)

Nice rear angle shot in the first pix, Cam...really shows how the 2:2 works the lines of the bike...

I see you are also going sans rear pillion....great look!
