Running bad after pipe install
« on: March 30, 2013, 07:07:17 PM »

Just got a chance to ride after the Bassani 2-1 install. flashed with new tune fron Dynojet. seemd good for a while then lost power and sputtered off and on. checked the codes and saw a low/lean O2 sensor front Cyl. Have no idea what this means. sometimes it would run just fine and others it would lose power and pop.

In general there is no decel popping and when running well seems great. just this off and on power loss and then it throws the O2 code.

Any ideas help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to get the bike tuned properly.

thats what the PowerVision Autotune is supposed to do. But the O2 code should not have anything to do with the tune.

Double check O2 sensor connectors to eliminate that as the cause first.

I know on the Dresser Bikes if you cross front and rear connectors they run terrible.

Call Fuelmoto and have them send you a map and auto tune from there.  They know their stuff...they helped developed the Power Vision.

The connectors are color coded so that wasn't it. I can recheck the front at the connection by the voltage regulator as that is where the error is coming from. Do you think FuelMoto will help since I didn't purchase from them. Maybe the AutoTune module with new sensors is going to be the answer.

Can the tune cause the code? or does that origionate with the O2 sensor? Could it be bad?

double check your sensors the one with the black conector should be in the pipe to the rear cylinder & grey in front cylinder pipe, also make sure a pin didnt push out of the back of the connector when they went back together. hope its sumn that simple??

I never disconnected the front from under the seat just the rear. the front has a connector by the voltage regulator and it seems secure. I'm going to unplug and replug it. I hope that eliminates the issue. The ABS light came on and stayed on as well. Just curious if there is some witing issue somewhere?

I just tuned a trike and had symptoms that sound similar... Just as stated above, they put the sensors in backwards when the pipes were installed... A Harley doesn't run too good when it thinks the front cylinder is really the rear one...

they can't be reversed as only one was disconnected under the seat and reconnected. the front only connects to the plug by the voltage regulator. Has to be something else.

Are you saying they unscrewed the 02 sensor from the old pipes without unplugging it first? May have broken a wire, as they are very thin.

I had a similar experience.  My O2 sensors failed.  Will be covered my warranty.

No they were unplugged. you just don't have to unplug the front from under the seat. only the rear so you can't switch them when plugging back in. I guess you could switch the sensors in the pipes but you could tell by the color of the plugs you would have both as gray/black.

Start with the easiest things first. You changed pipes, check for leaks, both intake and exhaust.
