Yellow Plague Falling
« on: March 31, 2013, 03:22:20 PM »

How may out there effected by the yellow pine pollen every year? Rode 100 miles or so yesterday, I want to rip my eyes out of my skull today. What do you do to combat it while riding and afterwards? Oh and Happy Easter :)

I've never discovered anything that will help other than a good rain.

Everything I own is currently covered in the stuff...even things inside an enclosed garage.

If your body is allergic, you might try Claratin or something similar, but when the stuff gets in your eyes, there's not much that will help.  Wear a FF helmet...that helps a bit.

Yup, been popping Zyrtec. Goggles help a bit too. Hopefully in a few weeks it'll all be over. Just need it to rain every other day.

Yes, it sure is bad around here.  We left from Charleston and headed up to Santee.  Sneezed most of the way back.  Got some rain this morning but it is still bad around here.  Hopefully Monday's rain will help.

And  ****NEVER**** park your scoot, car or lawnmower for that matter, under a pine dripping sap. Worse than epoxy.

For the eyes, highly recommend these. My allergist says that all visine products shouldn't be otc and they actually can damage your eyes. This is safe and it works great

I use three different prescriptions and a full face helmet and just do the best I can to survive.

I think I'd rather deal with the wind and snow.

Lived in Augusta, GA for 5 years....pine pollen would turn the entire sky (and everything on the ground) yellow for a week or so.  Then moved to East Tennessee.....the worse place in the country for allergies and causes of allergies.  Glad I don't have that problem but my wife/kids sure do.  Makes riding that much more fun..... ::)
Been trying to get a job in Arizona/Nevada last couple of years.  Wife has NO issues and her sinuses clear right up everytime we visit that part of the country.
