Has anyone had to change their battery yet?  Mine is getting tired and I heard the Big Boar is the way to go.  Any suggestions?

On the Deka website they don't list any batteries for Harley Davidson beyond 1996.  Do you have a part number?

The part lookup feature on their site is a bit outdated, with nothing listed after 2009.  However, the battery Harley uses in all the Softails hasn't changed in many years.  The H-D part number is 65989-97C and it's an Absorbed Glass Mat design.  The Deka number would be ETX20L according to the cross reference info I found online.

This link will take you to a good source for Deka batteries (rebranded as Big Crank), with good prices and free shipping.  Several folks on this site have reported buying from them in the past.

I had to swap mine last year so I got 3 seasons out of the original one and that's with the use of a battery tender. It happened right before a scheduled ride with some buds so with no time to research an upgrade, off I went to the stealer for a stock replacement.

I'm on my 3rd season and I also use a battery tender.  I'm getting nervous for this season.  I don't want to have to buy a battery locally just to get out of a bind.  Nothing on the Big Boar?  Thanks for the feedback.

The Deka battery looks pretty good and quite a lot less money than others.  As long as it lasts and is reliable, it looks good.

What's special about the Big Boar?  Looks to be overpriced and nothing special from what I've been able to find online.  The Big Boar Products website has very scant info on their batteries, as in almost no real tech data at all.  :nixweiss:

They're recommended by guys in my motorcycle club.  They have 330 CCA.  They do seem over priced however.

They claim anywhere from 300 to 330 CCA and the Deka claims 310 CCA.  Not exactly an earth shaking difference, and definitely not worth $180 like I've seen them priced at on various sites.  They appear to be just another regular battery made by someone else and sold with a Big Boar label, not sure who actually makes them and still can't find any detailed specs for them either.
