The journeys continue....
« on: April 05, 2013, 10:17:26 AM »

When I sold mine & Terrie's bikes back in Aug. of last year, several of you asked that I continue to post photos of our travels.  Below are links for the trips that we've taken in the past six months.

The down side....I learned on Tue that this place is for sale.  I'm at the top of the pay scale and so if it happens I'll be the first person they replace and once again I'll be unemployed.  The fun stops here!  :nervous:

Not sure if you've saw my other reports or not, but here's a little more of what Nor Cal has to offer....

Mt. Lassen, Sept. 2012....  http://www.afnash.com/showthread.php?11753-Summit-Lake-North-Mt-Lassen-Calif&highlight=Mt.+Lassen

Trinity Alps, Sept. 2012....
http://www.afnash.com/showthread.php?11754-Old-Lewiston-Bridge-RV-Park-and-the-Trinity-Alps-area&highlight=Mt.+Lassen

The California Redwoods, Sept. 2012.....   http://www.afnash.com/showthread.php?11770-A-tour-through-the-redwoods-of-Nor-Cal-and-the-Richardson-Grove-RV-Park&highlight=redwoods

Yosemite National Park, Christmas day 2012....
http://www.afnash.com/showthread.php?12006-Christmas-2012-in-Yosemite-National-Park-(CAUTION-Lot-of-photos)&highlight=Yosemite

Quartzsite, Ariz. Jan. 2013.... http://jczquartzsitejourney.blogspot.com/

Gold Country, Easter weekend 2013.....   http://49errvpark.blogspot.com/

NOTE:  The two blogs are my first attempt at blogs and so there's room for much improvement.  Terrie got me a weekend course in photograph a few weeks ago.  So now I can take my camera off of "auto" and start playing with the "Manual" mode.  Much practice needed in that area too.

For those of you that are planning a trip out west, I'm still available to help with laying out routes, things of interest, tourist traps that you really don't want or need to waste your time or money on, etc.  There's no doubt that California is best seen from the seat of a motorcycle......well, unless it's snowing.  Then it's best seen from the seat of my truck. ;D

Thanks for the heads up......I believe I've fixed the links....they're working now.

For me....it was/is back issues aggrevated by years and years of abuse on Harleys.  :P  Naw, it was actually work related...sugery twenty five years ago, two discs removed, a couple of motorcycle accidents, etc. It just got where I couldn't ride for even an hour without my back just killing me.  Tried the different seats, backrests, bars, etc. and each time I was able to keep riding for awhile longer but eventually, I surrendered.

For her...it was the pain in her kneck/shoulder area.  She had it on the Dyna as well as the Street Glide and again we went through the seats, bars, etc. but while some of them were a bit better than others, none of them really releaved the pain.  So, she surrenered too.  It happens with people our age.  A couple others have made the decision, for medical reasons since we did.  I'm sure that there are others that are considering it.  It's something that those of us that have the medical issues have to come to terms with sooner or later.

I had the same problem JC, the first 4 wouldn't open.  :-\. I so enjoy your pictures and hope you can fix the problem.  Your pictures are beautiful and I love your narrative that you include with them.  Looks like great places to camp with lots of history!  If I were still pulling my 5th wheel, I would love to camp at these places.   :2vrolijk_21:  I was beginning to think Molly was a seasoned camper until I saw her after the doggie spa picture!   :P. That little muffin can get herself pretty dirty.   :'(

I will pray for your job.  I hope they consider your knowledge and realize that you can't be replaced.  :)

I want to say I am sad to hear you cannot ride and thanks for sharing why. I know you have logged MANY MANY wonderful miles and I hope that gives you some peace. I hope to be able to have as many wonderful rides and you and your wife. Thanks for sharing!  :2vrolijk_21:

Hi JC,
I rarely post, but always enjoy yours. You definitely have a gift for sharing your expiriences in writing, as well as a talent for putting together some incredible bikes.  You are a wealth of information and if you don't mind I would like to PM you with a couple questions.  Continue to enjoy your travels and I hope one day we cross paths.

So I can relate to the employment comment all too well as I was just impacted in that way.  All the Best in that matter and know that I have faith in you.

Regarding the recent photography course enjoy the “new ride” as you can experience high heights as a result of that effort.  In reference to practice, I hear brother loud and clear so get out there and help us out.  Practice and post baby!

And as to you last comments, if you are impacted by your current employer consider being a travel guide because you certainly have assisted me over the years!  Thank you so much and heck you might as well get paid for it and besides I think you enjoy it too!

Finally brother you truly are…

Keep it up!  (You know I could add my flavor here but….HA!)

Just went through all your blogs - again. Geez Louise - don't you ever get tired of the beauty of the west..................

Still on our dream list to pack up the trailer and head to the left coast for a few months. Got the time now, just not the coins.

Put air bags on that truck yet?

Jock, the last link I provided (in the first post of this thread), Easter in the Gold Country is one of the areas that I took you through on one of our trips around Nor Cal.  You probably recognized the ol' west town, stage coach rides, etc. in that link.

But then again......somebody that travels as much as you do......it probably all starts to run together.  If it doesn't yet, it will by the time you get to my age. :nervous:
