Windshields
« on: April 09, 2013, 09:00:07 PM »

Just purchased a new Mustang seat that raises my riding position a little. Looking for suggestions for a taller windshield. Would like to keep the dark smoke look.

Will help everyone if we know what bike you are riding. What size shield do you have now?

Hi there

I'm in Australia and had to make a decision on a diiferent shield because of bufetting. I decided ona a recurve screen from Freedom Shileds and John from Freedom was extremely helpful in making the decision easier. I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam sitting on a stock seat on my Street Glide. Ended up with a 7" screen in dark tint which is just right for me.

Cheers

Are you using the stock seat with the 7inch shield and can look over the shield?  I'm the same height with the same bike and I'm also thinking about the same shield. Also how is the wind deflection with the curved shield? Thanks

Hi there

Yes stock seat, although I am now looking for a more comfortable seat as the stock seat is not good enough for me on longer trips. I can see over the new shield just fine if I'm in my normal riding position. If I slump a bit more I look through the shield about 1/2" from the top. But the 6" would be too low for me. The stock shield measures at 6 3/8". Recurve has stopped my sunglasses bouncing around on my head. hasn't completely stopped the buffeting but it's definitely heaps better. I also installed a fork air baffle that's helped and some forum users swear by the fairing wind deflectors as well.
Cheers
