My 2011 has now done 25K. Not bad considering it was off the road from June until the end of September having a new engine. I've now got a brand new hand built engine, built by local dealer, and it sounds and goes like a dream. Mind you I was happy with the bike before they told me it needed a new engine, so I'm no judge. I've done about 1000 since getting it back and had the 500 mile and 25000 mile service a couple of weeks ago.

The service guy was not really what caused the problem but he suspects that it was the cam shaft. This caused other failures such as the cam bearing and oil pump bearing. The engine suddenly started making a regular tapping noise, like very small stones in the exhaust. It was only when I rode it to the dealer (about 5 mile) that they told me it was a major problem. Harley UK had a look and they confirmed that a new engine was the only fix. Luckily for me the dealer said from day one that it was a warranty job even though the bike was 6 weeks out of warranty. However the US would not supply a new 110 CVO engine. They insisted that the dealer order all the individual components and build it themselves. I know this sounds crazy but it's exactly what happened.

There have been a lot of problems with the 110 engine. The service engineer is still not convinced that all the problems have been resolved in the 2013 and 2014 engines.

Okay...21,827 klms this summer for a total of 35,731 for my 2012 convertible.

Converted is 22,202 miles!!
