Muffler and stereo and docs tune
« on: April 15, 2013, 08:27:20 AM »

My 2012 CVO screamin eagle street glide is going to docs.... Doc will be doing some work and tuning on my bike late this month.

Tman is porting heads, fullsac header and pipes, tts tuner. Compression will be 10:1 and stock 255 se cams.

I want to be able to hear my stereo so here is where i need help from you guys. Doc says Freedom muffler is good performance and quiet but it only comes slash cut which is not my preference. I like the look of the stock cvo muffler which I could keep and put in fullsac 2"  core.

So... Can anyone tell me is the fullsac core in stock muffler "radio friendly"?  Is it much louder than the Freedom muffler?  I want to hear my tunes as I tour.  For those that think i will be happy with fullsac cores do I go 2" core???

Thanks!!!!!

I have had the 1.75" and 2" Fullsac cores on my 2011 SESG.  Go with the 2" and yes, they are radio friendly.  Like you, prefer the look of the stock pipes.  doc will likely advise against the 1.75 cores.  I really like the sound of the 2".

Yes Radio friendly, 0n the 2" cores.   I do have the HOG tunes upgrade with an extra amp and speakers which btw kicks!!  You will save hundreds by using your stock pipes and the chrome is excellent.  If you want a different look you might consider changing the exhaust end cap.

put the 2'' cores in my wife's bike.  was worried that they would be too loud, but they are great.  nice deep rumble, but very mellow at cruising.

Have the Fullsac DX pipe with 2" cores on my 2012 and love them no problems with hearing the radio for 800 miles this last weekend. Nice growl when on the throttle but tame at cruising speed.

Your windshield, if not the siutable size, wont block the wind noise and that is what will affect your ability to hear your stereo. IMO, pipes that exit the rear have little effect on our ability to hear the radio when at cruising speed on the highway.

Are 2" cores quieter than the 1.75" cores?

Im far from an expert but i do believe the smaller size the core the quieter and more restrictive on air flow BUT im not certain. Can someone let us know?

You'd be correct Toddster- 1.75" is quieter than the 2.0" and the 2.25".

What type of build would you prefer or recommend a 2.25" core over a 2.0" core for?
