CVO 110 Engine Mods
« on: April 17, 2013, 02:57:04 AM »

Currently running a 2011 CVO 110" with the SE Pro Performance upgrade kit in my '06 FXDLI.
With a Thunderheader & 50mm Intake it's been dyno'd at 113RWHP & 114 PDs/Torque.

The motor's being stripped this weekend as I'm unhappy with the lowdown performance of this setup.
I know a lot has to do with the TH but I got it cheap.

The engine is now going to get:

Heads Ported & Polished. (Apparently even SE heads still get powdercoated on the inside).
Woods TW 408-6 Cams.
Woods Lifters
S&S Heavy Duty Springs.
SE Adjustable Pushrods.
And a new V&H Pro Pipe.

My question is twofold:

Should I install Roller Rockers with this setup?

Has anyone run a similar setup? I'd really like to get their thoughts.

Thanks

Yes, you should get roller rockers. And you should also get a 58mm throttlebody and 5.3 g/s injectors. You're going to need to feed the flows of those ported heads and the stock 50mm TB and 4.8 injectors won't cut it.

I have the same build and it's great.

Thanks for your reply.
The throttlebody is a 50ml SE aftermarket item with the larger injectors.

Out of curiosity what are your dyno figures?

Thanks

I would have to agree...."anywhere close to those numbers" if you don't mind sharing, what are you expecting those numbers to cost to build? I've been waiting along time to do this myself, for my 09 fxstsse3.
Thanks

Good looking list of parts.  Who's doing the heads?  FBW or cable throttle body?

Finally Got the bike put back together and tuned.
Ended up doing:

Heads ported and polished plus a few other things done too.
Woods TW408-6 Cams & Lifters. (How noisy are these lifters supposed to be?? I filmed a couple of the power runs and the lifter noise was quite pronounced)
AV&V High Lift Springs.
S&S Roller Rockers.
SE Adjustable Pushrods.
D&D Boarzilla.
Already Had the SE Performance kit installed so forged pistons blah, blah, blah.

Besides the lifters being incredibly noisy I'm very very happy with the performance.

131HP & 128 PDs/Torque at the rear wheel. Done on a Dynojet.

Nice results. Are those #s SAE or Actual?  The only downside to the Woods 408-6 is it is noisy but should be expected with a .650" lift. But trust me , you really aren't going to care much about the noise given the absolute wicked performance they give to a 110. You'll be smiling a lot when you ride.

Those 408's do work well. :2vrolijk_21:
We've used those in the "nuetered" Big Dog 117"ers, set at 10.5 cr, along with other work.
Wakes those sleeping "dogs" up!!!!!

one of the reasons we stick with the S&S 625 or 640 over woods cams is the noise factor (dosnt really bother me,but some of our customers wont go for it) good #`s though, nice job

They certainly are noisy.
So much so that we're pulling the pushrods and lifters out this weekend just to double check.
These are the first set of Woods Cams & lifters that my mechanic has put in so we're both unsure of how noisy they are supposed to be.
I gave the bike an oil change last night as it was dynoed last week so will see if that makes a difference also.
The performance is blistering for a street bike and I have no qualms about using them but we just want to make sure everything is fine.

We load the OE lifter(but prefer S&S lifters) to .140-.150", with the proper vicosity oil for the ambient temps.
Some engines are relatively quiet, while others seems more prone to noise, even with cams that have ramps different than that of the Wood cams. :nixweiss:

Always looking for ways to drag more power out of all the models. Looks like a new bar has been raised for the CVO 110 and that is >120/120 with ~10.0:1 compression (stock pistons lightly milled heads) and cams that are in the <.600 lift and ~240 duration. Been done several times with various cams including the CR575, 577 Genesis, and Wild Things TC24. No affiliation with any of the companies these were the customers choices. As always pipe choice, larger TB, head porting, and tune quality are of the utmost importance to achieve similar results.
