07 radio bug?
« on: September 27, 2006, 10:15:52 AM »

I read the manual but I can't seem to fix this...  Radio software at 8.11.

1)  Always have the radio set to XM and NO nav disk in (btw - this problem is the same with the Nav disk in)

2)  when starting the bike, I have to hit OK button to accept I wont try to navigate while driving (duh).

3)  after hitting OK button the radio returns me to NAV screen instead of XM (where it was when I turned off the bike).

4)  I then have to cycle back over to XM.

Anybody know how to adjust the default to return back to XM or is this just a "feature" of our HK radios?

Thanks,

msb

Have you pulled the maxie fuse? Try that and see if that will let you reset the Radio to just xm. Whatever Feature you are using last when you turn the bike off should be in that state when you start up agaimn. (Shutdown the running bike with the RUN/STOP Switch) then turn ing. off.

Look in the Owners Manual for stopping a EFI bike-explains to use the run/stop switch first. Sometime that will scrable the electrics if you just slam the ing to off.

Because you have the NAV System when you reset the radio besure to turn the NAV off, If it is left on then it will act as you are stating because it is looking for the Satilite to get it coords. from. (just a thought).

Noticed the same thing on mine right after the update to 8.11

Strange - will have to wait to see what happens after I ride her!

Yep - looks to be a new "Feature" since I upgraded my Software from 7.xx to 8.11

Played with it a bit - looks like the default for those of us that have "GPS" is that when turned on the bike audio returns to it's last setting (FM or XM in my case) then a screen saying the GPS is being activated and then you need to "Agree to use of the GPS" then it takes you to the GPS screen.

Perhaps if I clear the destination?

No biggie for me - but this WAS NOT LIKE THIS before the software upgrade ;-)

I've noticed after the latest upgrade that mine starts on FM sometimes (but not everytime) when it was definitely shut off on CD or XM.  Also see a difference I've not quite figured out in tuning controls for bass, treble balance and AVC.

I know the AVC was supposed to be a fix in this software revison.

Great - now I have to worry about bugs in my HD radio software...  [smiley=drink.gif]

I think I can live with the Automatic Volume Control as it is... I may wait on 8.12 or whatever they come up with next before installing.  Just sounds like 8.11 may have been a bit premature...

Ok  -- reset my maxi and it works - kind of.  Still have to "ok" stupid Nav mesg and hit the select button once to go from NAV to last viewed component (in my case XM, but I tested it with AM/FM/CD).

Thanks for the tip.

Mine is still experiencing all kinds of quirks since the last upgrade.  Sublevel mode commands are funky.  The radio will will come in a different mode than when it was turned off.  About half the time when the radio is off when the bike is shut off the radio will be on when you fire the bike back up.  All started happening immediately after the last software upgrade.

Pulled the maxi-fuse for the reset.  Made no difference.  Who knows  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] .  It still functions normally once it's started.  So I'll wait for the next software upgrade and let that (hopefully) take care of it.

I wonder if you can put 8.9 back in?

Those update files aren't additive Terry.  So should be able to load anything over anything.  I'd have done it already except I never kept the old 8.9 disk after successfully using it.  Since it's not out there for download anymore I'm hosed until something different is released.
