Arc Audio KS125.4 mini
« on: April 22, 2013, 07:48:58 AM »

Is it possible to fit this amp in a fairing? I know it says it's for bag application, but I'm sure someone has tried.

I think I found my answer.

As previously mentioned, the plastic cups that secure the speedo and tach need to be trimmed to provide more room for the amp.  Here's a link to the installation instructions for the J&M 500W amp (that's based on the 125.4) describing what needs to be done:

http://www.jmcorp.com/pdf/JAMP-500HC06-UL----RV06-22-2011.pdf

See page 3, step 10 and figure F.

Also, take and post some pics of the amp installed.  I'd especially like to see pics of the right side fairing bracket;  Eastside HD sells a replacement bracket with a hole in it for running wires to/from the amp 125.4, so I'd like to see how your installer ran the wires on the right side (left side when looking at the bike from the front) of the amp.

I installed an arc amp inside the fairing on my 2008 FLHT right on top of the HK radio unit.  Used the heavy duty velcro to attach.  Fit perfectly.  I have opened up the fairing on my new2me 10 FLHXSE but will shortly.

Was it a 2 or 4 channel? That may be why it fit.

That's encouraging. The other thread says you have to shave part of the speedo and tach brackets. I'd rather not mess with that.

You will have to trim down the speedo and tach brackets.  It's no big deal tho.   Only way it will fit  :nixweiss:

I guess I'd better have at it, then. I'm trying to get the dealer to reassemble the front under warranty, as all four of my brackets are broken and that seems like the only way to get it covered. My idea is to get everything done up to the point the brackets go on and then tow it to HD. We'll see if this plan works.  :nixweiss:

Unfortunately, I can't mock it up beforehand (because of the broken brackets), but it seems like trimming the speedo/tach brackets is so minuscule, I can't picture the difference. There is about half an inch from where the bracket sticks out from the back of the gauge. Is trimming the bracket half an inch vertically to access that half an inch horizontally between the back of the gauge and the bracket really the difference between a fit and no fit?
