Kerker Stouts, sound clip
« on: April 22, 2013, 04:02:16 PM »

Finally decided on an muffler change.  I kept my Fullsac head pipes, ditched the stock cans with the 2.25 cores and put Kerker Stouts on my bike this weekend.  They sound fantastic, not as deep as CFR's but very similar without the supposed tuning issues.  I can always remove the packing if I want louder, but, I have a TV in my garage on a shelf and as you can see, the echo caused the remote to fall off the shelf on the sound clip.  Muffled because its in the garage with the doors open, but  I think its loud enough.

Here you go, YOU TUBE

sound good from the sound clip. Nice looking too- looks like the can is all one piece with no removable end cap and ugly screws.

So now that you've run Fullsac 2.25", Rinehart 4", and these Kerkers, how would you compare them all for loudness/sound quality?

Well, I haven't had my bike out yet on the road so it's hard to tell, but I've heard all 3 in the garage.  I really liked those CFR knockoffs that I tried, a little more raspy than the Kerkers.  Rineharts the loudest, but again I had the performance baffles, Fullsac 2.25 cores next, CFR knockoffs 3rd, and then the Kerkers.  When I get it out, if I need louder which I doubt, I can remove the packing.  Sound wise, CFR's, Kerkers very close 2nd, Fullsacs, and Rineharts.  I think I am really going to be happy with these Kerkers!  Great quality muffler, great sound, and it will be interesting to see the numbers when I get it tuned next week in comparison to the Fullsac set up.

Thanks Rio, please keep us informed. I saw and listened to a set on a Street Glide (non CVO) just the other day and was very impressed with the look and the sound. I also have the complete Fullsac Stage II setup with the 2.25" baffles and couldn't be happier with my whole experience. Those Kerkers definitely got my gears going though. If they can be tuned as well as the Fullsac cores I think I'm in! I'll be watching.

Finally got a chance to get my bike out for the 1st time.  Only about 10 miles or so up to get some fresh gas in the tank.  Absolutely love the sound of these Kerkers!  Surprisingly, the bike didn't run bad at all with the previous Fullsac map!  I'm taking it in tomorrow morning to get tuned and have a map made.  I am really happy with these cans. couldn't really feel any difference in performance either way versus the old set up.

OK, I will admit to being stupid when it comes to this stuff and I'm certainly not interested in racing my bike, however I do want the power and ability to pass someone up on a two lane road without having to downshift.  I'm confused, HD website boast 115 ft lb of torque at 4000 RPM stock, FUllsac states the Stage 1 kit gives you 98hp and 113 ft lbs of torque.  I went from the fullsac x-pipe, 2.25 cores and it read 83hp and 95.27 max torque, added kerker stout mufflers and it went to 88 hp and 102.39 max torque?  What am I missing here?  Is there different ways to measure these statistics?

Did you have the bike dyno'd on the same dyno?

Hd's figures are at the crank- hp at the rear wheel are 10-15% less due to drivetrain loss.

Did you get your bike tuned?  I'm curious what kind of numbers you got.  My bike runs well but I think the tuner left a lot on the table?  I got 89HP and 103 ft lbs of torque, but I understand a lot has to do with the gear?  But Im not feeling warm and fuzzy

No, I never did. This bike runs too good.
Local tuner will charge $250 to dyno and re-map.
Right now, I don't like anyone touching my bike.
