Passenger Footpegs? Help Please..
« on: September 28, 2006, 11:20:35 AM »

Can someone share with me what does it take to add Passenger Footpegs on a 06 SE Fatboy? Do you need any type of a kit in addition to the passenger footpegs? What are my options? I have the V&S staggereds. Thanks!

Screamin,

These are the parts I used on my 05, I am sure there is no difference where the mount. They work with all my pipes. I believe you have a typo in your post are they not V & H  Big Shot Staggered ?? (which I do also have a set of)

50305-02            AILERON FOOTPEGS
50749-05            FOOTPEG MOUNT KIT

Aussie Mike, please look at the footpeg mount kit part number again. 50749-05 does not come up in HD parts. I too am very curious to see my options for passenger footpegs. I added rear footboards before I changed exhaust and now that the stock exhaust bracket is gone, the right side rear footboard has nothing to stop it from rotating. So, I am considering pegs even though I spent megabucks on footboards already. The footboards just wouldn't look right with the V&H Staggered pipes anyway.

theres nothing special but If I were going to do it again I would use a bolt, not the chrome pin with clip. Its rusting miserably inside as its bare metal, and the pegs come down as I'm riding solo. I will put some type of nylon washer to solve it but beings you dont have to, go with a chrome bolt and nut....

You may want to use a proper chrome bolt and chrome locknut instead of the chrome Pin and clip that come with the kit above.  The pin looks nice, but I found it a bit too loose and I like to keep my passenger pegs up when not in use.  A bolt and locknut will keep everything tighter.

I bought aileron pegs (whoa, expensive!) with standard peg mount. Works ok, but the right peg doesn't fold up all the way due to the pipes (SE baloney cut). Further, the pipe burns any boot resting on the peg, but I can live with that, as the fold-up hides the rubber marks :D

They cost me $344 AUD about 18 months ago from my local dealer. Now I buy all my genuine parts from Chicago Harley (in the USA) each purchase I make works out about half the price it would cost me to buy from my local stealer in Australia.
If I had known then what I know now I would have bought them from Chicago Harley for $135 USD + shipping .
I generally purchase several products at once as the shipping for 1 product or many does not change too much

Cheers
Aussie

PS: the footpeg mount kit is only $27.96 USD  part number 50749-05

If your have the part number for part click on this link Chicago Harley & put the part number in the box at the top right corner & click on search

Hey Eagle,

If it makes you feel any better I have 3 sets of aileron pegs fitted on my ride & as mentioned above the first set cost me over $300 + the next 2 sets = best part of $600. Stop your whining & just get over it. Did you forget that 'HD' still means Hundreds of Dollars

cheers

I know, I know, but my ass still hurts after bending over 1800 times for the bags and new seat, I was expecting this to be an easy one to swallow, oh well time to bend over again  :whip:
