Does anyone know how much the automatic compression release (ACR) valvea open?  I need to know the lift to ensure they will not hit my pistons in the new build.

The releases are no where near the piston....they open near the head gasket surface. I would say they open about .050 to .075.....if you milled the heads for more compression you might add a spark plug washer (or something like that) under the compression releases to raise them up so the plunger doesn't hit the cylinder and insure they are able to open.
