Leather Tour Pak Adjustable?
« on: September 28, 2006, 10:41:03 PM »

I thought I read it here somewhere, but I can't find it.

Can the tourback be moved back any on the stock hardware?

Also, is the passenger lumbar pad adjustable at all?

Not positive on the 06 & 07's but on the 05's you could move the pack about 3/4". Typically they came with the pack in the rear position but some reported them in the forward position.

You can also get the kit from George Anderson that allows you to move the pack back either 1-1/4" or 2-1/2" Several here have purchased it with good results.

Here is the thread that discusses the kit from George. http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1155676758/13#13

There is a bracket under the seat that you can forward or back to adjust the back rest.

Jim,
Didn't someone actually move their leather pak back out in the garage at Cripple Creek?

BigAl and Mike helped Canuck move his on the 06 SEUC, after Canuck complained (actually Sue) that it was so tight and I told them you could move it back.

And for whatever reason (factory guidance?) they all seem to come home from the dealerships in the forward position.

Well there are 2 locations, I had the dealership move mine back all the way on setup, but it still wasn't enough.  George's Kit is the way to go.

On the Lumbar Support.....there is a thick spacer behind the small lumbar pad that can be removed, but then you have staples exposed (hard to see, but still there).  I have mine off and so far no comments about the staples, but then I really wouldn't care if anybody said something or not....my wife is more comfortable with it gone, thats all that matters.

Probably to save some room when shipping.

Quote
All TourPaks come in the forward position from the factory, to provide clearance in the crate.

But even being in some forward position for shipping doesn't explain it because they are actually shipped in a forward and reverse mounted position.  That's where they gain the length savings for shipping.  So the shop boy has to actually unbolt it, turn it around and remount it.  And yet I've never seen one that didn't get remounted in the forward (too tight for many) position.

Could that be the birthing of Don's [smiley=cherry.gif] we are seeing????

No it's not D00d.  I wish I'd been there for the unveiling of mine but I was out of town that day.  Since they all look the same right out of the box though I grabbed a few pictures that someone else posted of their unveiling within just a few days of mine just to have an idea of what the process was and initial delivery looked like.
