CVO Speaker Replacements
« on: May 07, 2013, 03:15:35 PM »

I am looking to upgrade my 2012 Street glide CVO speakers and it looks like there are not many choices out there.  I have seen some discussion on Focal speakers but I wanted to get clarification on how water proof they are.  I live in WA state where it rains on average 260 days a year.  I ride 300+ days a year so I ride in the rain constantly, often for many hours at a time.  The stock speakers have held up great in the snow, ice and rain riding.  Will the Focal speakers hold up in the weather as well?  Does anyone have a suggestion for speaker replacements other then Focal?

Appreciate the help

See if this helps you some.  TIF2 (Rich) is on top of most audio for our CVO's and seems to be the go-to guy for these things.  It's who I would go to if I were thinking of changing/upgrading audio on my SE.  Hope this helps.

I went with Hog Tunes 2 ohm speakers.  I have ridden in the rain but nothing like you mention.  These speakers are much better than the stock ones.

I went with Hybrid Audio Technologies speakers that were recommended by Tif2.  I purchased them through Biketronics and upgraded the fairing speaker to the Unity series and stayed with the Imagine series for the lowers and the lids.  You will need a better amp to power the better speakers that you put in.  I went with the Biketronics amp and I'm second guessing if I should have gone with two different amps, one for the front and one for the rear.

J&M Rokkers. A bit on the expensive side but damn good speakers.

I like J&M and run them in my 2010 street glide but for the 2012 CVO they don't make speakers for the lowers or the bag lids.  I have emailed them and they said they are at least 4 months out from having a product for either location.  So I could only put the Rockers in the front fairing.

My bag speakers from hybrid audio finally came today.    They sound great.    Went right in.

Are the bag still fully water tight with the Hybrid Audio Technology speakers?

I like J&M also.
J&M makes the Rokkers for the fairing and the vented lowers ('have 'em on the '09 SERG), I don't know if they have Rokkers for the lids.

The vented lowers use the J&M speaker grill mount, I want to keep the match painted stock speaker grill and lowers and just replace the speakers.

The '09 SERG didn't come with lowers. So I am sending the speaker sourounds ('going to leave the grills black) for the Rokker XTs along with the primed vented lowers to Gunslinger Monday to have them painted the '09 Charcoal Slate, I'm psyched :pepper:

FlaHeatWave,

I have a set of lowers for my SERG that I am looking to get painted to match my bike.  If you don't mind me asking, what are they charging you to paint them?

Charles,
I think Gunslinger quoted $250 to paint the vented lowers, I know that since I got the primed lowers for $ 380 new it was a great deal to me since the MoCo lists the CVO painted lowers for $825.

If you have the lowers ready to ship this Mon. 5/13 they might work you in this week with my order, I have been on the waiting list since this past December.
