Adding XM 2013 CVO Road Glide
« on: May 08, 2013, 04:18:30 PM »

Newbie here, yes have done the search but still confused.  Just sold 2012 flhx and my 13 cvo road glide shows up in a week.

I had xm radio on street glide...

Went into HD dealership and was getting ready to order xm unit and found out that it wont work on 13 cvo road glides?

Can anyone point me in the right direction of why?  or is that not true?

Anyone here have xm on 13 cvo road glide?

I'm a newb here and will be purchasing the 2013 Roman Gold CVO RG in a couple weeks when it gets to the dealership.  I just wanted to offer an option that the nerd side of me says will work and what I plan to do.  The HD XM module is about $500.00.  I already planned to get a GPS and the Garmin 660 is about 6-700.00.  If you get the Garmin 665 which comes with XM and the Pyle Audio bluetooth bridge http://www.pyleaudio.com/LatestNews.aspx ($70.00) that plugs in to the 30 pin connector, you can stream everything through the stereo system without loss in quality.

I added it too my buddies 2013 CVO SG. I had to make up a Y cable too the Ipod harness, but that's all. took about 15 minutes once I got all the connectors.

The only reason HD says it can't be done is because they don't have a plug and play option. As with many things they say can't  be done its been proven on here many times by many people that in fact it can be  done------might take some connectors and ingenuity on your part but placement of the module and maybe some additional wiring is usually all thats involved.

Here is the wiring diagram I used to make up the harness.

That is what I used to make the harness for my 2012 CVO SG when I bought it a year ago.  At that time, I was told you couldn't put XM in the bike.  They may have a harness now, but I don't know.  I also took the XM module out of my previous bike, which was an 09 SG.  I think that their may be a couple of threads on this as I recall reading them before I did mine.

I used the same wiring diagram to make the harness for my '11 SESG......was told by HD it could not be done.

Parts list with part numbers is included....it's not hard.
