I have one installed for about two years.  It works fine.  No issues.  I just flip my high beams on and the door closes. I have a 2010 Convertible.

Does the receiver make click noise when you cycle hi/lo switch? If so and door not opening, wires going into GDO unit may not be in correct spot. Friend of mine spent hours trying to troubleshoot only to find out he had leads installed incorrectly.

The part number you listed is for just the transmitter, not the entire kit that includes the receiver.  That, and the fact you list a 2012 CVO Ultra in your profile, makes me guess you already had the receiver for the CUSE and you're trying to add the Softail Convertible.  If I can make that assumption, and if your GDO works properly with the CUSE, then the problem would most likely be in the wiring of the transmitter to the Convertible.  Does the transmitter LED light up when you flip the high beam switch with the ignition on?

Depending on how old the kit was that you bought, it may not have had the correct installation instructions.  The latest version has separate instructions for 2011 and later Softails with HDLAN, while of course earlier versions did not.  If your Convertible is a 2010 the old instructions would still apply, but if it's a 2011 or later you need the latest instructions.  This note is from the latest version:  "2011 and later Softail models will require separate purchase of an Electrical Connection Harness (Part No. 72673-11)."

There is a troubleshooting section near the end of the instructions that came with the transmitter.
------------------------------------------
TROUBLESHOOTING
Headlamp Switch Toggled, but Garage Door Opener Does Not Function.
With the ignition key switch turned to IGNITION:
1. Does the LED on the vehicle transmitter flash when the headlamp switch is toggled?
• YES. Proceed to Step 2.
• NO. Proceed to Step 3.
2. Does the LED on the garage-mounted receiver flash once when the signal is transmitted from the vehicle?
• YES. Proceed to Step 4.
• NO. Proceed to Reset the Receiver.
3. Verify proper connections to the vehicle power wires, headlamp wires and ground.
4. See Receiver Installation near the front of these instructions.
a. Verify that the receiver is properly wired to the existing garage door opener unit.
b. Verify that the receiver is spaced a sufficient distance from the existing garage door opener receiver.

Reset the Receiver
1. Unplug the receiver from the 110 Volt power outlet.
2. Wait ten seconds.
3. Press and hold the program button on the receiver, While holding the button down, plug the receiver into the power
outlet. The red LED will flash rapidly.
4. Release the program button. The receiver is now reset, and all memory is erased.
5. Program the receiver again. See the Receiver and Transmitter Programming section earlier in these instructions.

thank you, and your assumptions are correct.

I went by the dealership this morning and spoke with a tech that has installed these. Instead of splicing the wire, as stated in the instructions you should TAP into it.  You tap the yellow wire into the blue / yellow and the white into the blue / white wire. Again this was not clear.

I am going to try that when I get home. Fingers crossed.

Thanks again.
