Mustang Wide Tripper Breakin
« on: May 10, 2013, 03:12:20 PM »

Hello,

I just bought a solo wide tripper with backrest for my 13 CVO Roadglide.  I have seen alot of these seats on here and wondering if they will break in after a while.  Mine is firm and it seems like I'm sitting on top of it and it's bugging my buttbone.  It doesn't seem very contoured to my butt.  I have about 100 miles on it so far.

I had been riding a C&C seat (hard like a corbin) for a long time and wanted something softer.  My wife had a used mustang wide solo on her streetglide forever and that thing was soft.  I'm hoping she will like it if it doesn't work for me.

Thanks,
Corey

Mine has broken in after about 2000 miles - same seat and 2012 RoadGlide.  Still firm, but much more comfortable than when I first installed it.

That's nice to know.  Now I just need to get them 2000 miles.  Maybe I can put it on my wifes bike for 2000 miles.
Thanks

Can you post a pic of your seat?

I switched from stock to a Corbin and found it to be quite firm. Fortunately, it fits very well so it's extremely comfortable. Otherwise, I think it would feel like I was sitting on top of it rather than in it.

I made foam chemicals for 12 years, if a modern foam "breaks in" the foam has begun to fail. Modern quality foams should retain there shape and viscosity for pratically ever. If it is getting "softer" send it back, the foam is breaking down and will start to crumble and loose its shape. The seat company when they bought the foam got specs from the chemical supplier with it and I bet the failure rate is 10+ years of average use. Or they bought cheaper foam "blocks" from another supplier which is not a good thing, you want a poured to fit foam made for the purpose you are using it for, ie: you don't want a seat foam to be like a couch foam or padded dash foam or a cut-off from the left over end of a mattress.

It's now for sale in the Selling section.  Just didn't fit me or my wife.
