12" Yaffe Monkeybars
« on: May 15, 2013, 08:47:29 AM »

I am thinking about putting the 12" Yaffe monkeybars on my 05 SEEG...Anyone know what size over lines and cables I need for hydraulic clutch, front brake, and throttle/idle...wire extensions...I heard these are a real bitch to run the wires through because of the sharp angles...Any one have a good source to buy these parts...

I put mine on myself. YES, it is a bitch to get the wire they the bars but they will go thru. While doing it you'll call me a liar several times but they will go. It took me the entire weekend. Most of the time was splicing the wires and pulling the lines thru the bars.

I ended up using my wife's dish detergent as the lubricant. Go figure!

The lines at +6 over stock. I looked around and around for lines the lines etc.. And I finally just decided to rose the entire kit from Yafee. The instructions were pretty good and I had everything I needed.

I love the 12" Yafee bars! Should have done it 15,000 miles ago.

monkey bars are the worse bars I have ever wired, but I love the way they look and in the end it is worth it.  Tip..stagger the solder locations on the wire extensions, don't use the easy clip extensions the metal wont make the bend.  Get some good lube and welding wire to pull wires through.  The left side is a bit easier the right side sucks if you have an 08-newer with TBW.  Like willy said just call yaffe and order the plus size kit with the bars and they will give you everything you need for your bike model and size bars and step by step instructions.  If this is your first time to do your own bars you sure picked a doozie for the cherry popper.  If you get frustrated which you will...grab a beer and take a brake.

Good Luck!!

If want the Monkey Bar style but a much better quality bar and better pricing.....here you go:   www.vindikta.com

Yaffe bars measure 2" taller then he calls them so take that into account when ordering lines and cables.

Joe Vindikta's bars measure true in height but are a little wider so add 2" to the height difference there as well.

Last year it was about a 10 week wait for my 14" black monkey bars for the Hydraulic clutch for my Skunk.  Well worth the wait.

Seriously considering the same bar but chrome for my 13 CVO King

Will they come with the wires preran through the bars and etc? or will you have to do that yourself? Do they offer that in a kit all preassembled? I have 2005 CVO EG as well and am wanting to go with the exact same set up. Saw a set of 14's on here for sale concerned they might be too high.

How tall are you?

Love the 14 Monkey bars, I am 6'1".  I think 12's would have been to short, actually considered 16", as I have rode a Road Glide with them and they felt good.

There is a company here in Texas that has the Yaffe's in a package deal with the wires already ran, but it is like $1,400 I think.  On the website click on the "Handlebar Kits" they don't show the picture of the Yaffee package, but they sell his bars so just call them and they can give you a quote. The list of the brand bars they sell is under the tab Handlebars.

Here is the link http://www.hillcountrycustomcycles.com/Bagger-Kits-C62.aspx

Good Luck

Ordered My Yaffe's through Eastern Performance back in Feb.  At that time they had them in stock, cost was $349.00 for the 12s.

I put 12" monkey bars on my SERG, had plenty of wire, did not have to splice any. The cables were also long enough to work. Did not have to replace them. Did reroute the clutch line, but that was simple enough to do. Love the bars and the feel. Running the wires were a bitch, but can be done.
