Can't comment on the SE8, butI was pleasantly surprised when I got my 2012 SE7 in Australia.

I was ready for all sorts of things to be different , or changed to comply with the Aussie ADR compliance.

But really very little was hacked.

Obviously the headlight was different for riding on the left side of the road, an H4 halogen for right hand drive.
The speedo was analogue in Kilometers per hour.
The LED side lights on the bottom of the King Tour pack had been replaced with chrome strips, not a huge problem as all the wiring and mounting holes for the lights were in place and about 150 bucks procured the yankee version side lights.
The sides of the tail/stop LED across the top box had been blanked out with a couple of small aluminum plates that were easily removed.

To my complete surprise, the exhaust system was exactly as in the US brochures and web sites, 4 inch Screamin Eagle mufflers and a set of headers with NO Active Exhaust valve as comes with all other Harleys here, (same as California emission regs)

All Harleys that come into Australia are fitted with the smart security and alarm system.

Compared to a few of the earlier CVO's supplied to the Australian market, with the 5HD VIN, this one was comparatively complete with all the US goodies, apart from those LED side lights for the top box.

All in all, pretty happy with the small amount of difference from the US model.

Cheers,

ozrider.

Hi Ozrider

Seems that the Aussie version is quite the same as the European..
My came with the same chrome inserts and corners on the brake-tail light. H4 beam not the original US.

No highway pegs.. I dont know why the hell not..

GPS, Ipod, Security with Alarm, MC Cover, dont know about the garageopener.. It should be mounted under the frontpart..

Well will check next week when the SE8 is delivered... I asked my dealer to put the corners away and put the sidelights on the Topcase..

OK, it's not obvious to me and you've got my curiosity up. What is different about a headlight for right vs left hand drive? Don't they just shoot straight ahead?

The H4 reflectors have a beam pattern that shoots straight up for high beam, but is real low and spikes out a bit on the left side (Aussie type, right hand drive)
That way it doesn't shine into the oncoming traffic but illuminates down the off side a little more.

Well, I did have to do a bit of reminding at time of delivery, the highway pegs and rear fender filler panels were not on the bike.
The left saddle bag liner was missing, and there was no CVO emblem on the rear guard. All of which the dealer agreed should have been there but apparently were not included when the machine was crated up,,,
and the screen wasn't included in the crate either, all of which the dealer had to procure and supply separately, but caused no drama for me apart from a little wait time.
No garage door gizmo for Oz either.

Thanks Oz! I'd never have thought of that but it makes total sense.

You're welcome JoeVibe,

found a picture,(worth a thousand words) and it's for a US H4 for driving on the right side of road.

The Aussie type for driving on the left side of road is the other way round.

Sparks,

Best way is to see them side by side. When mine gets in I will let you know and we can compare. One more reason to drive through Switzerland.
