I didn't lose too much reception with the Harley powered one.

I didn't notice any loss of reception with the Harley version I installed. It works very well on my SERG.

Myself and all my friends have the hidden antenna. We list about 40 miles from Atlanta and the reception from these antennas suck. We were just talking about this problem this morning. I'm going to take a shorty antenna and hid it by mounting it between my saddle bag and frame. I'm going create a bracket by getting a mount from the local truckstop and buy the mount truckers use to mount CB antennas to their side mirrors. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

I installed a Biketronics Hogtenna the first year I got my '09 SERG.

I live in the great St. Louis MO area and I could tune into 21 stations with the stock rear short antenna.  After I installed the Hogtenna above the radio, I could tune in 18 stations.

Since then I've been far away from the city and still get great reception with this antenna.  I tried a Tune Trapper that others have used, but I didn't get the results I get with the Hogtenna.  The Hogtenna is a powered antenna.  I think it was just under $40.
