eliminating Catalytic converters
« on: May 19, 2013, 02:13:26 PM »

I have a 2012 CVO Softail Convertible and I am using HD Street Performance mufflers.  (I wanted better exhaust sound but not loud).  What is the best way to eliminate the catalytic converters and still use the slip on mufflers I have?

The Fullsac headpipe will do it. Or you can remove yours and reuse the stock pipes if you have (or can get) some fair welding skills.

My problem is I do not see pipes from Fullsac that are made for CVO Softail.  It looks like they are all for touring models............am I missing something?

The Softails do not have the catalyst in the headpipe like the Touring models, but instead have them in the inlet of the actual mufflers.  I have to believe someone on the site who has removed them will be able to jump in here and explain exactly what was involved in their removal.  Unfortunately I don't personally have that information.

I might suggest just removing one of the mufflers and looking into the inlet.  It may become obvious how to remove them once you get a good look.

Oh, btw, are you sure the mufflers you bought have catalysts?  Some of them for earlier models came without cats.
