New modular helmet
« on: May 19, 2013, 07:35:19 PM »

Trying it out for pressure spots and my riding glasses are completely fogged up.  Is this normal?

I'm just now shopping for a modular but there's no way they can be right. Do you have the vents opened?

Tried it opened and closed.  Riding glasses are tight in the helmet but no pressure points yet!

I'm sure one of the folks here will help. Which helmet do you have?

I tried one on yesterday, nice looking helmet but wouldn't fit me. The vent in the chin guard is supposed to prevent fogging. Are your glasses fogging when you're riding, standing still, or all the time? If it's just when you stop at a light, you may have to open the shield a little to vent.

Do you have the visor open? Mine at times will fog my glasses if I'm not moving with visor closed and colder air outside then in the helmet. Also when it's raining I need to crack it just a tad. Once I'm moving no problems. Also If your inside with A/C and your head is getting warm it may fog the glasses with the visor open. Especially if your riding glasses are sealed. :nixweiss:

Thanks all!  Will try again today.  It is humid out so not optimistic it won't happen again.

I can return it if the stickers are all kept on so riding with it is out of the question.  Was just trying it for pressure points.  Couldn't really wear it for an hour at the store so they let me bring it home.

I currently use the HJC CL-MAX II. I have also used the Shoei in a Full Helment.

When it comes to fogging of glasses, it's inevitable under certain weather conditions. If it's humid, wet or a major change in temps and my glasses fog. I recently picked up a pin-lock visor and shield for my HJC but that only helps the shield and not your glasses.

Have a pin-lock visor on this helmet.  My concern now, seeing as I most likely will have glass fogging at some point while riding, is getting them lifted up or lowered as they are tight, tight, tight in the helmet.

I have the same helmet, but I don't wear glasses with it on.  The shield pretty much always fogs up unless I open the shield about 1/2".  It fogs bad at stops, so I have to open it all the way.  When it's moving, it's usually just near the bottom of the shield that fogs up.  It may not do it in hot, dry weather, but I never wear it in those conditions.  I only wear in in situations where, by nature, I'm breathing warmer air inside the helmet that what's hitting it from the outside, thus the condensation factor.  What I'm saying is that I only wear it in the rain or very cold weather.  I imagine wearing glasses inside there would make for a pretty bad situation.

Or try a Schuberth C-3. They don't fog no matter what. Haven't gotten mine to fog down to 22 degrees.  But my sunglasses do.
