Drebbin, Sorry to hear of your misfortunes at your local dealership, and that their poor service has caused you to decide to sell your CVO. I had a similar feeling a year and a half ago when I got such abominable bad service that I also considered the GW as an alternative.  All kinds of choices, decisions and changing of service departments to finally finding a local independent that put my bike back together correctly, at much cost to me personally.  I now have the bike I should have had from it's first service. I bought a great bike, it got damaged, I put it back to right.  I have complained to all the right people, all the right ways, I finally had to just get over it and move on.  I, did not choose to sell my CVO, but rather just made it right.  Sorry that your experience has left you feeling the only choice was another brand.  I do, however, understand your decision. If you can't find a shop in your local area who can make it all right for you, you have little other options.
I know where you are trying to get good service, and I find it a black eye to the MoCO that in an area of such concentrated wealth, there are no HD shops one can depend on reliably within a reasonable driving distance.
Still hope to get the opportunity to meet you in person some day, and ride together, no matter what powers the two wheels we are riding that day.

If you wish to sell it, by all means that's your choice. That's why I have two bikes in case one is down I've still have one to ride and yes it's a GW 1800.  Your bike is still under warranty and the original post about it was the dealer went out of the way to get you a chrome starter and you were happy about it at that time  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

If you ever need GW service (warranty or other wise) you will need to do it yourself (here in Northern VA) the dealers are all Lawn mower and string trimmers and dirt bikes the service departments have bikes stacked up and you have to walk around the lawn mowers to get to the service department. You need to remove a lot of plastic to get to the service points on a Gold wing and the service departments regular leave and break stuff off more than they fix, I stay far away from them except for tires.

So if it services you expect you will be hard pressed to find it a Honda Motorcycle shop.  The sales department is about the same as HD happy to see and sell to you hard to find after the check clears.

Good luck in your choice, However the no brainier is to keep'em both and enjoy'em you won't regret doing that  [smiley=drink.gif]

Thnx VA,

You might have me confused with another -- never had a starter problem.

As for the GW dealers, this will my second one.  I've had GREAT success with what little service I needed -- like an oil change.

Hope we can link up soon, DREBBIN

Yes there are.  It is just a whole lotta craw to swallow when you hit, one - two or three in a row who are not only not good, but rotten to their very core.  I now use the Richmond HD for warranty work, and will use a particular mechanic (Steve) at Orange - Wagh HD in VA.  Fired00d professes that Staunton is good, it is quite away out of my way.  Colonial HD and East Coast HD and sounds like Manassas and Patriot HD are not the good ones.  Hard to feel secure when you are walking in muck and mire.  Sorry it sounds like there are not good ones.  There are.  They are just fewer than more common.

Drebbin, Sorry to see you go!  Make sure you keep us all up to date on the SEAL160Ride!  I am sorry I missed this year in Savannah.  Who won the Weld Wheels?  I look forward to coming back to VA next year.  Maybe this time I won't get lost on my way into town!!
