Vance & Hines Hi-Flo End Caps
« on: May 21, 2013, 10:08:13 AM »

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but i was wondering if anyone was having problems with the chrome lifting off their V&H Hi-Flo end caps?

I'm now onto my third set and I know it's just a matter of time before it happens again. V&H seem quite happy to replace them, but say it's as a "good will gesture" even though the last set were only on the road for a couple of months. Should they start to refuse to offer replacements then I'll take them on re Warranty.

just a thought........

I've got something like 18,000+ miles on mine without any issues at all. Looking at your photo I have to say I am running WAY richer than you. I don't have any rust on the inside of my baffles. If anything I get staining on the end caps because of running so rich.

"Maybe" the rust, iron oxide, on the baffles is interacting with the chrome?

Yes, VH is aware of the problem also.  The monster ovals are bad.  I have contacted them on several and after sending pics in.  I have recieved replacements.

No rust - that's the "as new" colour.

I do get some staining on the inner surface of the caps, but regard that as normal.

No, I recon the chroming just aint up to the mixture of water and heat.

I only have 3k miles but do not have any issues with chrome. My left pipe is a lot blacker than my right so it is a little harded to see. I'll take a closer look this weekend.
