Air Intake for FLHXSE3 with Lowers
« on: May 23, 2013, 10:05:23 AM »

Has anyone installed anything like the Arlen Ness twin Sucker, PM Fastair, S&S Single Bore Tuned Induction System, Wimmer Dual Runner, etc. on their bike with fairing lowers and fairing lower speakers.  I need to greatly increase airflow (200+ CFM) but want to keep my lowers on.

HD does make a compact version of there heavy breather to fit on bikes with lowers.  Part no. 28716-10A  Only comes in Chrome i believe.

After doing a little more research I am looking at the Wimmer 60 deg.  I think this will clear the lowers and the speakers, and not interfere with the right leg.

The only difference with the compact version of the Heavy Breather is the actual filter element, which is shorter.  It will work with lowers, but as best I can tell it won't work on bikes with speakers in the lowers.

That, and the chrome trim ring for the filter element is different.  The chrome trim ring is a slightly larger diameter for the shorter element.  The trim ring that comes with the longer element will not work with the shorter element, and visa versa..

The compact version is still very close. No way to open lower door......no big loss.
