Secruity light on dash
« on: May 29, 2013, 12:07:01 PM »

My Secruity light on the Dash has started coming on, just any time while  riding down the road. The only thing new I have done lately is added led lights. Seams like some where I read this could cause a issue. Has anybody had this promblem and if so what did you do to fix it.  This Bike is a 2007 Utral Classic CVO.

I have never had this problem and I have leds. You may need to change the battery out in your FOB. If you haven't and it is an 07, it is most likely time to change it.

What LED's did you add?  If you added the headlight, should be no issues.  If you added LED to both the front and rear turn signals, you will need a load equalizer to compensate for the lower draw from the LED's.  If you just added to the front OR rear turn signals, should not have an issue.  My '12 has the LED's tail/turn lights and I added the custom dynamics halo for the front turn/running lights.  Gave the fast flash and did cause my dash "key" for the security system to come on when I activated the turn signals.  Added their load equalizer and no problems what-so-ever.

I did add the Same  Halo lights to the front and also to the rear and Brake. I did add one equalizer. to stop the fast flashing. maybe I need to add one more equalizer.

Interesting...if you already added an equalizer and it's still causing your security system to flash the red key on the dash, may be something else.  Give Custom Dynamics a call/email and tell them the problem.  I've worked with them a bit and were good to answer back.  If you are using their load equalizer, it should be plug/play and take care of all the problems (fast flash and security interference)..... :2vrolijk_21:

I did notice on my way home from work today, when the light came on I could hit the left blinker the light would go off. If I hit the right one it would stay on.

Every once in a while when in stop and go traffic my key light comes on. Have had it happen 3-4 times over the last year. When get us to speed it goes off. Dealer don't know what causes it. Never happens when in for service. Any one else have this happen let me know.

Could be your clutch safety switch going bad?

You will need a load equalizer that is "alarm compatible" the resistor type load eq's that come with some LEDs are not.

In stop and go traffic, is the motor getting hot enough for it to go in "cooling" mode (runs on one cylinder)?  If so, I've noticed that my key light will come on in extremely hot weather and LOTS of stop/go traffic.  Has only happened to me twice (in Gatlinburg traffic) but only in the senario I've described.  Doesn't happen in any other instance that I've noticed.

Dude, I was thinking the same thing.  XB, are you using the Custom Dynamics 8 pin load equalizer adapter.  Not only does this plug into the turn signal wiring harness, it has to be wired into the battery.  That should do the trick in eliminating the fast flash along with the security alarm interference.

Yes it is when we are in stop and go. Getting hot. Usually when going slow and stuck in traffic. Interesting.  Any thoughts on why?

Nope, no clue.  Had Ginger over a year now and only happened twice in the extreme conditions mentioned.  Also, once was before I installed the halo's and load equalizer and once after installation so my guess is it wasn't the LED's.  Rode it to Orlando this past March and hit a couple days in the high 80's with one day in extreme stop and go traffic.  Didn't come on.  If it had continued, I would have taken in to the dealer but since it was hit/miss and only twice (that I noticed), gonna chalk it up to "they all do that" for now.  Have quite a few miles to add to her this Summer....will be keeping an eye on it.
