Brian, no, the bike was not showing any of the signs, but he relayed to JR that it was not torqued to the new spec when he went to check it.

I had specifically asked that comp. nut torque be checked during the 10,000 mile service that I had done locally before I put the bike up last winter.  Just goes to show that even when you bring something to the dealer's attention, it doesn't always mean they're going to do it. How right you are.  In my experience, Bumpus is very well respected and maintains an excellant relationship with other dealers as well.  I suspect this might be your new service center?

Being a 950 mile round trip, we'll have to see about that, but for any "major" work, they will definitely be on my radar, assuming the bike comes out as expected this time around.

At least Bumpus was willing to install your parts for you.

Yep, that's why I'll continue to think of them for the big stuff.  Routine services might end up staying here, though.  We'll just have to see.  So far, I am really impressed with them, though.

Yeah, I hear you.  Time has been the major problem for me so far.  Easier and quicker to have it done.  Also, it'd take me awhile to work up the confidence (no matter how easy it is) on the multi-thousand-$$$ Harley.  I did all the wrenching on the Kawis I had before, but only had a fraction of what I have in this bike invested in them.  I could do valve adjustments in my sleep on those things by the time I stopped riding them, but for some reason find myself intimidated by the SEEG. Oh, oil changes are done by me (using a hammer, torch, and oil drained from the John Deere lawnmower - don't laugh, works great!).  The other chit is left to the dealer, though.

Just wondering.  Shouldn't a moderator splice together the threads about "junk in the trunk" and "bottom end knock"  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] ?

Brian,  glad to hear you're getting taken care of at Bumpus, and I hear you on the self-service.  I've got to do the 5K....don't have any issues with anything on the "list" other than I don't have the things to check the belt tension and make adjustments if necessary...no 36mm wrench that can be torqued.

"Bad Nut Disease" must be going around. Had the same low end knock on my 06 CUSE and the first 2 times I had the "technicians" listen to it they admitted they heard the knock but advised me to keep riding it and if it got worse to bring it back in. Can you believe that?? :o
Well, I had to get the GM and the HD rep involved before they decided to re-torque and adjust the nut. I get the bike back tomorrow and we'll see if the knock is gone.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
