Donald, I'm sure you've seen what's been written in the archives already, but I would say that listing the issues w/ your engine might be helpful, just to get some of the chaps thinking again. Besides, new people are getting on this site every day and may have a different POV on it. I don't know what a "dead engine" means in your case, or how a series of calamitous faults could manifest themselves all at once. As to the hideous expense for imported motorcycles and parts, having lived in Europe for awhile and visited England on several occasions, I ruefully joked that getting anything Harley meant taking the US cost in dollars, making that euros and multiplying by 2...ie a $20,000 bagger would cost 20,000 x 2 euros or 40,000 euros with 19%mwst/tax. Same with the parts! I know the formula works in the UK as well, except in pounds, so it's worse. Harleys are pretty much boutique bikes over there so factory labo(u)r costs are like getting a Bentley worked on in LA at $400 an hour. You'd know better than us as to why the lads at HD/UK are being so mingy about everything though.
