Radio sound cuts off
« on: May 30, 2013, 08:11:44 PM »

My radio has started to have the sound cut off.  There are two ways to restore it.  One is to shut the radio off and back on.  The other is to change the position of the speaker switch.  Anyone have any ideas?  Its a 12 SEUC.

Does it happen only when the navigation unit is on? It may be trying to navigate and over riding the stereo even though you hear no audio from the nav unit.

Not the navigation.  Did have an issue with the NIM but that has been replaced.  If it was the navigation I would have the Navigation/phone volume showing up does not.  It is the radio.

I had this problem a couple years ago, it may gets worse with time! I sent the unit to Iron Cross Audio and haven't had an issue since. They knew exactly what it was.........(I have no clue) they did say the likely cause was having my Hog Wired amp sitting on top of the radio.

You could still have jarred something in the unit, that problem sounds exactly like the one I had. It would only take a minute to PM them about the issue.

I have a sg coo from 2011 and recently the sound falls out and when I turn the radio off and on it will play for a few minutes????  Anyone any tip to solve this problem? It's only the sound that shut off the rest still works.
Thanks folks

One issue that I believe is somewhat common is the Main Circuit board in the head unit will either crack or de-laminate (substrate separation) from the vibrations and/or jarring of the front end. Another issue is the top triple tree bolts on certain models are resting against the head unit and the constant impact of the bolts hitting the head unit cause internal head unit damage.

Contact Iron Cross via email and see if they can help out by either repairing it or perhaps they could recommend a way for you get it repaired over there in Belgium.
