SERK lowers
« on: June 05, 2013, 10:11:11 AM »

Seems the lowers are causing alot of turbulence. Has anyone removed theirs and did it help? How does the engine guard look without them or was it removed also? Can you still hear the tunes with no front speakers?

at first i thought it was the windshield, and bought an 18 inch rk standard shield.  rode 5 minutes and same issue.  changed it to the 16 inch, and bought a $30 fork baffle (goes under the triple tree area).  Didnt help at all. Bought a Dragonfly fairing with speakers, should be here in 4 weeks.  If the fairing helps, great!  If not I will remove the lowers.
Some members have zero wind buffeting.  Im 6', 210 lbs.  My glasses shake like crazy at 70 mph and up.

Hmmmmmm, at 80 mph I get no buffeting in the face area whatsoever.  You have to be looking at the leading edge of the flap on the mail slot.
I like the look and don't care what others say about it.  There seems to be a lot of dislike for it.  People who are taller I can't speak for
since I'm 5'10" but more torso with short legs.  Give it a try and just move it towards closed position at very minute increments.

I also just came from a cvo ultra 2011 and don't miss it at all.  Having a BLAST with the RED ROADIE.

I removed the lowers off mine and like it this way. I also like the stock windscreen, looks modern, like it was designed for this bike. Went on a charity ride last weekend and the RK was quite a hit. I was amazed at how many Harley riders did not know what the bike was.

Like the look Rat. I have the exact same bike/ colour but with 14 inch apes......Thinking on removing the lowers also. I also like the standard CVO shield.....Question. Is it a big job getting the lowers off. And does it effect the sound system greatly without the front speakers......I havn't really looked into taking the lowers off as yet. But I think after seeing your bike I might just give it a burl.

Edit....I just noticed you took off the whole crash bars also...Clean. :2vrolijk_21:

I would be shocked if you could hear the tunes above 35mph with out the lowers.

I do like the look better with out them.  However I need the tunes.  Riding it to Milwaukee this year for the 110th.
