Stu I'm not sure what speakers you are talking about and where to buy them?

Lew-----------HAT refers to Hybrid Audio Technologies. The 5x7's they are talking about are those. Soundz Customz sells them also as well as the Arc Audio  amps and Focal speakers. Great place , and great service and advice.

Cool are they really better than the newest Hawg wired systems?

I don't have them (the HAT 5x7's) but from all I have read people seem to like them better than the others that are available. The Focals I understand leak in the saddlebags from a post I read on here. Even Pete says they don't fit as well as the HAT's. As for the Hawg Wired, I don't have a new setup but did have one a few years ago on another bike and was very happy with it. They offer a 400 Watt amp now and a new line of speakers and you can fit 3 amps under a RG fairing. It is all plug and play as well. Call Jim(hd-dude on this site) at Metal Dragon  or Hawg Wired direct. You will just have to study and make up your own mind. Price is comparable. It just seems most folks on here think that the Arc Amps and focals are higher end stuff and they report sound better. Again I am very happy with my setup which I just installed last Saturday.

While the Hybrid Tech 5x7's are sealed and therefore deemed waterproof, they do not come close to the sound quality and output of the Focal 5x7's in the saddlebags.  Unless you ride in the rain quite frequently, get some Hog Covers to cover the speakers if your caught out in the rain.

There is a lot of choices out there , you just have to decide. Both setups (HW and ARC ) are pretty easy installs if you are handy with wrenches and both will do you a good job. Lots of folks on here have those two and then there is some others mix and match kind of stuff. I looked at JM too but you have to use their boxes and grills and that was a deal killer for me.

Yeah I have the Hawg wired system on the RG I have now and its very clean and crisp. Just wish it was a little louder so I could hear at 70+. Have never heard the arc and focals. So its hard to tell.

I went with the Stage IV kit.  It kicks *ss!!!!  I'm installing another one in a bud's today.  The price tag was hard pill to swallow for two boxes, but man am I happy I did it now.. :bananarock: :bananarock: :bananarock:

Anybody ever owned both, the arc with focals and the Hawg Wired? How do they compare?

Lew , one thing to keep in mind if you are still thinking about the HW system , they now have the RS400 amps which Im betting you don't have in your current system. Im told they are much louder and obviously  more power than the 300 which is what I had some time ago. When you double the wattage of an amp you only get 3 decibels more sound every time you double. That is why its not very noticeable when you go from say 250 to 300 or 300 tp 400 watts on an amp.

How are either the Focal's or HAT's mounted? I ask because I tried replacing the stock stuff with a set of Polk mm571's, and they don't come anywhere near to being able to hit the mounting holes.
Is there an adapter available somewhere? Also, anyone making a harness adapter to go from the stock "plug" style to the spade terminals on about every speaker other than hd's boom stuff?

Thanks
G.

I have both the focals and HW 6.5's ... used them both on the bike for a while uppers and lowers ... The the HW's are sitting on the bench ...There is no compairison IMHO.   I now have 6 focals on the bike,  very happy with the focal speakers ..    I am currently using the HW 400RS amp ... Its been replaced once ...  I dont care for it one bit.  background hiss when system is turned on .... true, you cant hear it when the engine is running, but somtimes i listen the engine off.  zero volume you can hear this unpleasant background noise hisssssssss  ....
