Has anyone had any luck selling there bikes online? I've tried HD Trader and Ebay. Been trying for over 2 months with no luck. Any suggestions would be great. By the way It is a Road King... any takers?
Thanks-
I have sold two of my last three bikes online (I totaled the third, so the insurance company bought it).
Price your bike realistically (according to the market, the season, ect.) include loads of information and pictures, and you will sell it. The market will tell you if you are overpriced. My initial asking price for my most recent bike sale was a bit on the high side - I knew it going in, but I wanted to test the market. I got almost no response to my ads on HDTrader, Cycle Trader online or ebay.. But, when I dropped the price a couple thousand, I was swamped with phone calls and emails. I ended up with three serious buyers and sold it about $1600 less then my initial asking price. But, I also sold some of the original equipment take-offs from the bike on Ebay, and have recovered about $1000 - so I am actually down $600 from what I orginally hoped for - not to bad. The sale price of my bike was a fair price and I am now moving on to my next bike purchase. Sometimes it is hard to accept the difference between what you think your bike should be worth versus what the market does to the value of your bike - but it is what it is... New bikes with new features always hurt the value of yesterday's bikes.
Good Luck....sadunbar
