Touch Up Paint or??
« on: October 07, 2006, 05:54:03 PM »

On the way to Ft. Worth last night and got popped by a gravel truck big time. Ding in the faring right below the windshield. Call dealer today and MOCO doesn't offer ony "touch up paint". What have you all done to fix your dings, get paint etc: other than staying away from gravel trucks?????Thanks greg

I bought touch up paint for my 06 CUSE. It is pricey...BUT...it actually came as a kit with small bottles of black, autumn haze and clearcoat (with the pearl in it). My problem is that I don't have the balls to do the touch-up myself. I am afraid it will look like a touch-up, if you know what I mean.
Good luck, Rick

Hey mtncop73,
I didn't know a kit would be available for a CVO. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
Since we have the same color, do you have the part number for the kit and maybe a price?

(I don't need it right now but it may be a good idea to have on hand incase it goes out of stock)
One of those things like insurance, you hope you never need it. 8-)
Thanks.

Rick,

Go for it.  If you don't like the result, just clean it off with a little laquer thinner on a soft rag.  The secret is to go with very light coats of the base colors and build up the repair gradually.  Once the chip has been built up nearly level with the surrounding surface, apply two light coats of the "clear".  It's easier on a horizontal surface than a vertical one, since gravity works against you on the verticals.

Jerry - Thanks for the good information.  About a year ago someone also posted additional information on doing such touch ups.  May want to do a search.
