How about an FXR5 or a Sporty?  I'm tired of the same old same old, and I think it's time to get back to the origins of the CVO.  They need to use the program to broaden interest in other models, as opposed to just doing the same ones year after year after year.

Considering the fact that Harley only cares about the big profits, I'm going to guess they will offer a CVO Trike. I can see it now, the first $60k factory Harley.  Maybe on the trike they could figure out how to add power seats, adjustable bars, and adjustable windshields.  And the seats should have a deep massage function (but without a slot for quarters) along with the heat.  And maybe they could throw in a small air conditioning unit, since so many people constantly bitch about the heat on the current models.  Of course that works best in an enclosed area, so they'd need to enclose the passenger space.  Maybe a snap on clear plastic rig like you see on some tractors.

Jerry

I agree they need something fresh.  I don't think too many Sporty riders want to plunk down CVO cash, since it's an entry level bike.  Not knocking the Sporty, I love it, just sayin!

This is just one guy's take on them but the SE Street Glides and the later SE Road Kings haven't been my cup of tea.  Nice bikes completely.  But not what is in my mind for FLHX and FLHR bikes.  Road Kings with lowers and onboard audio and the host of others bells and whistles just aren't what is in my mind for a Road King; a relatively straight forward cruising/touring bike.

So much has been tacked on to the Street Glides they might as well be Ultra Lites.  Again, not what the FLHX started out to be.  All the additions just significantly blur the lines between the perception of what each bike was and a platform on which to throw everything.

So this will be the 8th Edition of the Harley Davidson Street Glide and hopefully Moco won't disappoint, and just make it about color options.  I do relate to what you guys are saying, and that air of pessimism based on Moco's track record.

North Georgia Hog, I welcome your selfish reason for not wanting anymore CVO Street Glides, after all you own the one and only, "Honey Badger"! ;D

Hopefully, Moco will come out with something "fresh" for the Street Glide, but it's popularity tells me it will be around for a few more years.

Thanks!

The SG originally came out in '06 to be a more modern, sleeker Glide that would appeal more to younger buyers. It was really just a skin job with the slammed look, clean fenders, small run signals, no Tour Pak, etc. There isn't that much difference between the SESG and the SEUC... Same bike except for the Tour Pak with rack on the SEUC; heated grips/seat, power locks, CB/Intercom etc. on the SEUC; the rear fascia on the SESG; the stretched bags on the SESG; the lowered SESG with the non-air shocks; and in general the sleeker, more custom-looking lines of the SESG vs. the SEUC.

I love my '12 SESG, and it would take something truly phenomenal in both looks and performance from the MoCo to get me to ever even THINK about trading it for ANYTHING else!

Though the Ultra fits my scheme of things, I think the Street Glide is a very cool machine and I was very tempted by the '12 Dark Slate.  It was actually difficult to locate one, and most were at MSRP or more because most knew there was not going to be a 2013 model.

The Honey Badger is one of the baddest bikes (and he don't care!) on this site, because you put a lot of work and money into it. :drink:

I look forward to see the 2014 Street Glide! :2vrolijk_21:

Well, thank you! I appreciate the compliment. It will never be done... I will always continue to make changes over time to suit my fancy. That's the fun of it!

The Honey Badger just spoke to me the first time I ever saw it. It fact, I agreed to buy it sight unseen over the phone from Macon H-D on Aug 26, 2011. It was the only SESG for sale in Georgia at the time. Bought it cash for MSRP plus a flat $250 doc fee and no setup charge... just freight and tax.

I was initially planning to buy a '12 Maple Metallic SERG, but fate had other plans. I did some TTS VTune tuning runs on a Maple SERG yesterday for Mr. Wizard. Nice bike and handles very well. Wiz had installed 54H cams in it on Thursday, and I installed Cometic MLS .030" head gaskets in it on Friday. He installed a Fat Cat 2-1 on it yesterday morning, and then tuned it yesterday and will finish it today. Man, that thing really RUNS, and that Fat Cat is REALLY LOUD! It's really a bit TOO loud for me... the reversion roar is just silly loud on decel... louder than my Drago's pipe, even.

I really like the '12 SEUCs, too... Especially the orange over black. Beautiful paint on those. I would have bought one of those, if one had been available. In case you can't tell, I am rather partial to ORANGE!

I am funny about buying bikes... When I'm in the market and I see one I really like, I BUY. I generally don't look around at every single bike for months... don't have the patience for that cuz the money is burning a hole in my pocket. I buy the first one I see that moves me. I think that the right bike has a way of finding the right owner, if you let it happen. Maybe not the best way to buy, but it gives me a real thrill!

Why? To keep the value of our bikes up? I don't plan on trading/selling mine anytime soon.

Prior to the first SG's we were seeing guys taking Ultra Classics and stripping them down.  Fog lights off, tour pack off, shortie windshields on, extended bags-ON, add on pipes and more horsepower; all mods very original, and a new direction from guys like us.  The MC got it, and the SG was born (2006 I think). Moreover the CVO series came soon after and (obviously) for this group, we liked it enough to buy one. THEN we began to see an interesting thing happen, we added tour packs, light bars, more speakers, etc.  Again, the creativity came from the riders. Now, I think that the MC is carefully looking to US for a direction, and it is difficult to say (at this point) what that direction may be.

The 2014 SESG will have some new color schemes (they always do) but unless they add a radiator more power is unlikely. Different wheel designs are an easy alternative as are chrome and/or black chrome details.  The ability to option in, or out, some of the things WE have done would be nice.  But I would really like to see the CVO series equipped with some of things that we ALL start doing as soon as we get one.  How about decent sounding pipes as OE?  Quality seats, have Corbin or Mustang or a US supplier build them not the Chinese.  Good looking license plate brackets and air cleaner covers ON THE bike, why do I have to go to Kuryakyn?  Integrated GPS systems are a must.

If stuff like this is incorporated into the 2014 models, I'll take a look again, but until then my 2011 (with my mods) is stayin' with me.
