Prior to the first SG's we were seeing guys taking Ultra Classics and stripping them down.  Fog lights off, tour pack off, shortie windshields on, extended bags-ON, add on pipes and more horsepower; all mods very original, and a new direction from guys like us.  The MC got it, and the SG was born (2006 I think). Moreover the CVO series came soon after and (obviously) for this group, we liked it enough to buy one. THEN we began to see an interesting thing happen, we added tour packs, light bars, more speakers, etc.  Again, the creativity came from the riders. Now, I think that the MC is carefully looking to US for a direction, and it is difficult to say (at this point) what that direction may be.

The 2014 SESG will have some new color schemes (they always do) but unless they add a radiator more power is unlikely. Different wheel designs are an easy alternative as are chrome and/or black chrome details.  The ability to option in, or out, some of the things WE have done would be nice.  But I would really like to see the CVO series equipped with some of things that we ALL start doing as soon as we get one.  How about decent sounding pipes as OE?  Quality seats, have Corbin or Mustang or a US supplier build them not the Chinese.  Good looking license plate brackets and air cleaner covers ON THE bike, why do I have to go to Kuryakyn?  Integrated GPS systems are a must.

If stuff like this is incorporated into the 2014 models, I'll take a look again, but until then my 2011 (with my mods) is stayin' with me.

PRECISELY my thoughts. I have made so many mods and enhancements, I would lose my shirt if I ever sold or traded the Honey Badger. I can't see the MoCo coming up with any new paint scheme or color(s) that I could imagine liking any better than what I have now.

It would take a SESG with a 120R in it to interest me in one at all. Not going to get a 2014 and then have to repeat all of my performance, functionality, and comfort mods on it... there's simply no point in doing all of that again on a new bike.

Actually in 2004 the SEEG was born (due to Willie G seeing what owners were doing w/their Ultra/Classic/Standard Electra Glides... but if he tells the story it will be "his" design :P ::) ;D) and this model ran for two consecutive years. The SEEG sold so well that in 2006 the Street Glides were introduced as a regular production model. The SESG was introduced (or reintroduced as some would say since the SEEG's were predecessors to this model) in 2010. If you notice most of the styling that is on the SESG's are copies of what the owners and aftermarket were doing.... stretched bags, speakers in saddlebags, speakers in lowers, rear fender fascia, GPS'. etc., etc. I'd say if you want to see what the MoCo will come out with next watch what owners and aftermarket are doing/adding to their bikes and the MoCo will follow with one exception... most of what they will do will not be up to the standards (cheap/low budget parts) as the owner/aftermarket will do to their bikes.

But like you... I'm sticking w/my model ('04 SEEG) and anything that comes out new that I think I might want to do/add to my bike I'll just add it. ;)

I'm hopeful that they will upgrade the sub-par suspension system, as they have already upgraded the frame & brakes.  I can see adjustable and/or better handlebars as a definite improvement.

They've done a great job on the Street Glide's stereo system, at least from the of a very appealing intergration of the speakers, through the lowers and saddlebags. An optional upgrade of amps or head unit might be appealing, though I'm definitely one not to know as I love my stock system. :D

The exhaust will always be a needed aftermarket purchase because of EPA/CARB sound pollution and exhaust pollution standards, Moco is stifled in providing an "aftermarket quality" exhaust system, stock.

I definitely see the 2015 Road Glide being a water cooled bike, but hard to say with the Street Glide.

With 6 models getting the boot for 2014, I'm sure more emphasis will be focused on the hottest sellers, like the SG.  I'm looking forward to seeing the 2014!

well if the above is correct, then we should see a 24 or 26 front wheel!!

Who's to say that will not be the case... wheels have gotten larger since '04 when I purchased my bike. Nobody ever said the MoCo was quick in following. ;) :P ::) :D

And I was looking forward in getting a new CVO Road King.....I guess I will not have that choice now and may have to look at the CVO Street Glide instead.

On the other hand I'll be keeping my 12 Ultra for awhile yet! ;D

One thing that would be GREAT is to get rid of the ancient, troublesome H-K radio - and go to a more modern touch panel all-digital audio system with Bluetooth, MP3 player, GPS, etc. and a big LCD panel in the dash to control all of the functions. Does anyone use CDs anymore? I have never even put one in my radio!

Harley really needs to step up and provide state of the art modern audio/nav systems like many automobiles have these days - without needing all of the bulky add-on modules for iPod, CB, nav, etc.

Just a thought... What does everyone think about that?

This has been a very interesting discussion, full of great ideas from a variety of experienced and thoughtful owners. Threads like this really make this forum well worth belonging to.

Another excellent idea regarding the touch screen, Alpine and Pioneer make units like this, but the current literature suggests "in dash" and there is no mention of use on a motorcycle. But the concept is valid; auto Bluetooth to cell phones and I-pods, GPS interface with audio system, large touchscreen, built in XM radio, voice commands, mobile apps, the works.  The technology is there, somebody will do it, sooner or later.
