A very rare site in London
« on: June 15, 2013, 08:59:55 PM »

Just had to take a pic of this beauty. We just don't see the good old ones as often as you guys must do across the pond. Had to get it from my wing mirror as he was going to turn off.

Yeap, it's a 59.  Not a Fleetwood.  Though I don't remember the distinctions well enough anymore to know whether it's an Eldorado or the DeVille.  Cool cars.

10/4 on that.  I looked up that year but could not see any noticeable diffrents between the two models.
I seam to recall some were in the old memory banks,..the El Dorado being a front wheel drive? or may be that came along latter. I'm most likely confusing it with some other model. Your Caddy is our Rolls but  the oldies out do to days in stile. It's a shame that's all lost.

No front wheel drives until much later, prob the late seventies. My bet would be DeVille, most of them had a center chrome strip down the side that I think I can see in the pic. Most Eldorados had a larger chrome rocker at the bottom. If its a Eldo and 25% to the value.

Front wheel drive Eldorado (and Olds Toronado) didn't happen until 1967.  429 that year, 472 the next and a 500 two years later in 1970.  The 500 was exclusive to Eldorado until 1975.

Yup that blew the dust off,.. THE Olds Toronado that's were I was thinking of front wheel drive. I had completely forgotten about the Toronado :confused5:     Thanks for the dusting :P. Funny how that is, as soon as I seen you say Olds Toronado it was like a light bulb turned on I recalled the exact place I first saw one and thought how cool,..a big car like this with front wheel drive Wow

I concur, The one in the pic isn't forward drive. I was confused in my minds eye were I was seeing the forward drive

The early Toronados were much cooler looking cars than the boxes that came later.  Same with the very early pre-FWD Eldorados compared to the later cars too.  But they ran over a time frame that showed much larger styling changes so it's a less fair comparison.  I likes the 1970 the best.  The 66 and 67 I used to not like the nose of, but they grew on me.  The 68 and 69 models I always thought looked like Pontiacs...  :huepfenlol2:
