Looking to replace rear shocks on my SEUC6
« on: June 16, 2013, 05:37:48 PM »

My rear shocks are leaking air & mother Harley has refused to replace them. The dealer says loss of air is within specs.(my old FLT of 22 years has never leaked air in all the years that I've had her!) I'm looking to replace them.Looking for some input from members that have replaced them. I ride 2up & also pull a trailer at times.

Thanks & ride safe!

Should have taken them Air Ride crap off the week after you bought the bike, imo.

Put some Progressive 944 or Bitubo(depending on bank acct) and you'll wonder why you kept them that long...

One of the best mods you can do!  Pick your poison, Bitubo, Progressive, Ohlins, Legend (do a search on any of these for hours of reading).  You'll be glad you did!

Did they leak oil? Mine leaked oil out of one but kept the air pressure. I replaced the shock and with the new one the system leaked air slow over a couple days down 10 pounds. I pushed the air tube in and pulled it a few times and it seems to be holding air. Been a week so far

My bike isn't a CVO its a street glide but I put shocks off of an ultra limited on it. Not sure what shocks the CVOs have.

Buy once, cry once.  Don't bother with Progressive, call Howard at Motorcycle Metal and have a set of Ohlins or JRIs custom-built for you and your bike.

Sent from my iPad, probably while I'm pooping.

VaEagle,

Do you ride 2 up? As I do most of the time. I put a call in to jim @ Metal Dragon. Do you feel the suspension technologies  shock would be heavy enough to handle the added weight of a trailer? Are they adjustable if need be?

Thanks & ride safe!

I talked to Mike @ Suspension Technologies & ordered 12" shocks for my Ultra. After talking to him I believe I made a good choice. :orange:

Sorry danner55 just saw your posts.......

I think you will be very happy with your choice of ST shocks since they can be custom made for your weight and riding style.
Good luck and hope you have many safe and happy miles. Don't forget to change the front suspension too if you can afford it.

very happy with the progressives... went with the heavy duty springs...just had to find the correct pre-load setting and they are great...these bikes are not race bikes...the progressives work great and are an excellent value as compared to some others that apparently must be gold plated based on their price...imo

Just talked to Jim today and now I have a pair of shocks on their way to my house!  Thanks Jim.  :2vrolijk_21:

I mounted 13" shocks from Suspension Technologies. I have done a shake down run with the trailer & BSR & so far the ride is excellent. I'm getting ready for the Sturgis run & next wednesday I'll be making another shaked down run with a fully loaded trailer & BSR to make sure the shocks are where they need to be. As it has been noted by others I wish I had made this mod long before this!

Just curious, after the Sturgis run, what are you thoughts on the ST shocks?  Ok with bsr and trailer?  I had Bitubo's on my previous CVO, but they are quite a bit more pricey than ST.  Thanks for any update.
