Ipad Mini on a Switchblade
« on: June 20, 2013, 09:41:24 AM »

Finally found a company (RAM) that had all the pieces to mount an iPad Mini on my Wide Glide. Have been carrying a full size iPad in a tank bag while on longer trips and while it worked well, it would occasionally overheat and I had to look down to see map data. Thinking this will work better.

Got the iPad holder that is designed to hold a mini in a case so will be acquiring a waterproof case to put the mini in.

I have bluetooth in my helmet so the iPad provides tunes, GPS, internet access, still and video camera, and a variety of other entertainment options. Looking forward to getting it on the road.

Mark, how long before the mount and the edges of the iPad or case go to paint (or other dress up) to detail them to the bike?

Funny you'd mention that Twolane ;)

Already researching the chroming process for plastic. Not sure how much I want to spend as the mount will only be on the bike during longer trips. It's a simple rubber surrounded hose clamp that keeps the mount on the bars so it's 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off. I'm a bit concerned about leaving it on the bike overnight in a motel parking lot. It screams "steal me" even without the iPad in the mount. still cogitating...

I'm starting the betting pool now. Who wants that Mark will leave it alone and who wants that Mark will detail it out?

From Websters:  "Fool's Bet: n  1)to believe that Mark will leave these bits alone 2) see #1."      :huepfenlol2:
