Histogram
« on: June 24, 2013, 03:12:00 AM »

Thought I would show-off my histogram that I gathered on the weekend using a 10" tablet computer mounted on the handlebars, not anywhere near my first vtune but it was the first time I had done it like this, makes it much easier.

well that sux, thought you came up with a great way to join a computer to an android tablet.   ;D   having a window based tablet and using it to vtune is pretty neat.   :2vrolijk_21:

TTS or TMax or even the TwinTec software that all only run on Windows.  May now finally have an (almost legitimate) excuse to get a Windows based tablet.  May just wait and get one of the new Samsung dual boot tablets when they become available.

I have a tablet I bought two years ago.  EE Slate.  64 solid state HDD, etc.  Works GREAT on the road for all kinds of stuff... e-mails, forums, tuning changes, etc.  never gave it a thought to strap it to the bars directly.  HAHA!  Thats GREAT Hilly! :bananarock: :bananarock: :2vrolijk_21:

Plus you can see the dang thing! :2vrolijk_21:

That's it my friend, it is big enough to see clearly, next trip I will try to fill the 6000 row and get the 80kpa from 1000 and up, its not as easy as it would seem, dyno would be much easier as load is controllable.

Hilly

So if it was on a standard smart phone you would have ~ 3 3/4" x 2 1/8" screen to work with, but some of the new one's are a little larger too.  DJ is ~2 3/4" x 2 1/8" and IMHO I just do not believe those are big enough to really see what's going on. Do you think that would be any good?

For younger eyes....probably quite doable Steve, some of the newer screens are whoppers.

What I am trying to determine is what would be the size that will work for most. I know I've had trouble with the smaller sizes and really am looking for feedback so I can determine a size that is really going to be acceptable when riding. Your 10" looks pretty good and I've had a look at 7 & 8" screens as well and they seem to be fine too. The truth is they make these damn things in sizes from 5" up now days. If we offer a optional screen just want to do it once with the proper size for most to use.

I have a 10 inch Acer Aspire One laptop I zip tie to trike handlebars for road tuning.  I can see what needs to be seen in the histrogram along with Temp, MAP, and cell centering features.  Much better than trying to see everything on a 2-3 inch screen.  You can zoom in on the smaller screens but you loose X,Y axis and other info.  Plus the fact you have to toggle through all the screens (5 maybe?) to get were you want to be.  Just one more thing to worry about, along with traffic, staying on the road.......  I am spoiled and don't like road tuning, and don't care if I do it ever again.

I have a 7" remote monitor that I have used for vtuning, that worked fairly well but it is hard to read the actual cell labels at times.  It didn't affect filling the histogram though, since the cursor cell was always easy to find.  I'm worried that the cost of a 10" would make it prohibitive, but that size would probably work well.
